BushCo is planning something big
The VRWC blow holes are spouting off 24/7 now about reckless free speech and the liberal media jeopardizing the troops.

They are setting the stage for a full blown attack on the first amendment and 100% censorship of all stories on the military. 40% of the American public are already on board.

Why? What is the next step they are taking that warrants a complete shutdown of free speech?

The timing of this Newsweek flap is no coincidence. Things are getting hot in the Muslim street.

Something wicked this way comes...

2. But Please Remember
9/11 was about an afghan pipeline and precursor to Iraq....

The approval ratings were just secondary.

22. poll numbers to watch
mid-term (s)elections are coming up. The poll numbers to watch are the Congressional ones..

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/polls.html
Congress - Job Approval Ratings
Poll Date 5/2 - 5/5
RCP Average
approve 35.0%
Disapprove 59.0%
Spread -24.0%

59% disapproval is not a good sign for incumbents. Mr. Cuckoobannanas has attempted to distance himself from some of the more radical right positions (like equating the filibuster with hating christians)

Short of impeachment - the only option to slow down or stop Mr. Cuckoobannana's regime is to throw out the repugs in Congress.

the repug congress is in deep doo-doo - and fear is their only weapon. Terror attack or invasion of Iran/Syria are very real probabilites as they are not winning on domestic issues

10. Interesting
I wonder if they'd risk it though. Remember the whole campaign thing? Of course that's done and over with though so they probably would. I only wonder...if anything does happen I wonder what.

9. things are finally coming to a head
in our occupied experiments and yes they're going to blame it all on one false story that they probably planted themselves. A complacent media helped cause this and they and we will now pay dearly.

12. now or never
If they're planning a putsch, the time is ripe. Their window of opportunity is narrow, given poll trends and an increasingly restless populace.

I've been sensing this too.... Well, not him. He couldn't think his way out of a paper bag. But Unka Dick? Unka Donald? Very scary indeed.

17. It about "anonymous sources"
They're going to crack down on reporting anything from anyone who won't let them use their name. They are tired of all the leaks and unofficial stories coming out.

Don't know if you saw Hardball tonight - but David Gergen were going NUTS on there about anonymous sources.

21. David Gergen on Hardball
This story has been exploited by the Arabs

Newsweek should unmask the individual, they shouldn't have gone with the story with only one source, their mistake was in not asking to see the document or at least have it read to the editors

Consnequences to journalism - this might be a tipping point, the public might be fed up, there's a lot of anger out there, you can see it in the blogs etc, the public may have just had enough and there may be a real push to raise standards so that unnamed sources can't push stories like this - if journalists are rushing to judgment with these stories like Joe Wilson, Dan Rather, etc - they many need to raise the standards for journalists

For calm, cool David Gergen, he was ranting and raving.

20. I am tired of anonymous sources too
There is concern (within parts of DoD and State) about the direction things are going.

But when will one of these anonymous sources have the courage to stand up and tell the country on the record what the hell is going on?
