Something good about insurance companies
Edited on Tue May-17-05 12:22 AM by IrishBloodEngHeart
I know a lot of times we post bad things about insurance companies. I work for one, and I want to say some positives.

By and large, they treat their workers well. I have very good health benefits. I have a pension that is adequately funded. My employer provides 15% of my salary into a defered retirement account on top of my pension. My employer provides tuition assistance. They provide good opportunities for advancement, and a safe work place.

So, one of the good things about insurance is they don't treat their employees like walmart does.

2. That's great. I'm happy for you.
Really I am, but I'm just so damned frustrated over all this bushshit going on. No perm. jobs, no health ins., no savings, etc, etc, etc,. I hurt because hub and I have been going thru all this for the last 5 years.

Piece of advise: Save money on your own, 'cause your company could go "bankrupt" and there goes your pension, retirement, 401K and whatever else they claim to be "handing" to you. Believe me, I've been through this.

Damn, don't cry Jojo, don't cry.

3. My homeowner's insurance just went up $400, I have no Health insurance...
I have no pension, I have no tuition assistance. Glad to hear that you are covered, but that coverage comes from the wallets of the working lower middle class and everyone else.

I have never filed a claim. The increase is probably due to the SoCal fires, but I live in No Cal! Seems we are stuck paying for those million dollar homes that burned to the ground.

As far as most insurance companies go, they are theives, those that have coverage and actually make a claim get their insurance cancelled or have their premiums raised drastically.

6. Congratulations.
So what you're saying is that your employer gives you benefits.

I'm thinking that isn't so unusual for a company to do, insurance company or not. In that light, your post reads more like "hey, I have this great job that pays great benefits" and really doesn't do a thing to help with the healthcare problem in this country.

I'm really glad you have a good job. I mean that.

7. I realized after
I wrote it sounded kind of snobby. that's not how I meant it.

I was just trying to point out that some companies do treat their employees well. The insurance industry takes a lot of criticism on these boards, but my company employs 16,000 people and treats us well, in my opinion.

Just something to keep in mind.
