Could this deal keep abortion legal?
And if so, could that what the republican party really wanted in the first place? Keep it legal - and blame it on the mean old dems. How many people voted rep b/c they are pro-life? I think they have quite a scam going stringing those voters along.

1. Nope.
Because when you deal with liars, you look like a fool in the end.

Make no mistake, this "deal" will last ONLY until they want to pack the SC.

2. As Joe Biden said today
even without roe v wade there would be 35 state legislatures that would make abortion legal. We should point this out to the fundies that you would just need to drive at a most to get an abortion even if they got there way.

5. Welcome to DU, Deanathon.
Actually what the 35 states will offer is the prospect of legal abortion. With the growing list of restrictions and regulations (parental notification, waiting time, mandatory counseling, etc.), not to mention that Congress is trying to make it a crime for a non-parent to take a minor across state lines to get an abortion, women have a lessened ability to access abortion services.

4. Down deep, anti choice republicans don't want to lose their wedge issue.
It's their way of getting working people to vote for the cheap labor cons..
