Prominent DA May Take on Sen. Clinton (but husband has prison record)
Edited on Tue May-24-05 10:47 PM by kskiska
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Westchester County District Attorney Jeanine Pirro said Monday she will seek statewide office in 2006, possibly by running for the U.S. Senate against Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Pirro said she will decide later this year which office to seek, and mentioned three possibilities: state attorney general, the Senate, and governor, if Republican George Pataki decides against another term.

(snip)

Though Pirro has long proven to be popular with voters, in her most recent re-election, in 2001, she won by just 6 percentage points. At the time, her husband, Albert Pirro, was in federal prison for tax fraud.

Asked if she thought her husband would be an issue next year, Pirro said she thinks New Yorkers are "smart enough" to recognize they are voting for a candidate and not the candidate's family.

Pirro's husband has been an issue in most of her campaigns. For instance, in 1997 he was fighting a paternity suit, which was ultimately successful.

1. This woman sounds like a relative of the Bu$h clan.
But, she won't get anywhere running against Hillary.

Maybe she should run for "dog catcher".

2. OH, God, you mean even though I left the NYC metro area I
will have to see Pirro again?????????? I try to avoid seeing her on TV as it is..

You know, I bet she could win....She's aggressive and loud and is always commenting on high profile cases.

And Hillary is becoming rather uninspiring lately....and she now has a voting record that may piss off enough downstaters to offset the lovefest in upstate NY....

that she'd like to run for something else, and Hillery's job is a likely one. Not many other high-profile Republicans in the running.

I'm wondering if too many people are just getting sick of seeing her. She's kind of run low on top-tier cases herself, so gets on the tube or in the papers to talk about, well, anything.

She's a lot like Giuliani was as a prosecutor-- daily press releases on what a great job she's doing on the easy cases.

the Repugs can't make up their minds who is running and who is not. Last week it was Cox...Nixons son-in-law. Who knows next week Elmer G Fuud (the Gov). One thing is for certain right now Spitzer will carry the Governor's position.

5. I can only foresee porn producers backing this fight.
I was going to get ugly as JP, but I decided that I didn't have to use the b-word or the c-word to spell it out. Oops maybe I just did. My bad. I guess I won't be able to post for a few days.

Sorry.
