because even though this fascist is on the bench for life, we still have the filibuster. :sarcasm: Wonder when we get to use the filibuster?

Frist won't go nuclear at that filibuster, because we have a deal. And if you believe that, I have a kiss my ass for you.

26. See, I agree
We still have it, but we can only use it when the GOP moderates think the nominee is "extreme".

If this fascist isn't extreme, who the hell is?

28. if the GOP moderates think the nominee is "extreme",
they vote against the nominee and the filibuster is not needed.

I mean, what does it take to get someone labled "extreme" anyway?

33. I doubt the Republican seven will find any
nominee extreme enough. But what I was pointing out was that the filibuster is dead either way. If the seven don't think the moninee is extreme, they will not allow the filibuster. If they do, filibuster is not needed.

38. Yeah, that's true
I misunderstood. But I was just thinking that too.

If they agree that its extreme, they can just vote "no".

That would be even better.

30. Chimp would have to nominate
a convicted serial murderer before even a few repukes would object. This deal was basically a green light for him to put the neanderthal of his choosing on the SCOTUS.

35. How would you have handled the nuclear option showdown differently?
All I hear from those who criticize the agreement is flamboyant grandstanding, yet the only alternative was to allow the nuclear option to go through and leave us with no opportunity to stop a nutball from replacing O'Connor next year.

37. A nutball is going to replace O'Connor next year
don't you get it. They won't let us filibuster when she is off the bench. We had a showdown with them and we blinked. We had the public on our side and we showed the angry dog some fear. Now, when we want to filibuster the O'Connor replacement, they will just say that we are deal busters because "this person isn't extreme" and then threaten to go nuclear again. Except this time the public won't be on our side because the last time we had this fight, we grabbed our ankles and asked the pledge master if we could have another.

How would I have handled it differently? Fuck 'em. Make them do the nuclear option. It never would have happened. They know the public was against them. The middle of the road Republicans would never have voted for it. And even if I am wrong, at least they would have looked like the dicks and we would be no further behind because WE ONLY GET TO PLAY WITH THE TOY (FILIBUSTER) WHEN THE REPUBLICANS SAY WE CAN. THEY GET TO DETERMINE IF SOMETHING IS EXTREME OR THEY WILL JUST TROT OUT THE NUCLEAR OPTION AGAIN. Nothing has changed for them, but we had to let this corporate pig Owens onto the bench and Bolton, the fucking bastard, will be our "I Hate All of You Bastards" representative to the UN. Where is the upside to this deal?

The other Democrat(?) who voted for the Republicans was DLC member Landrieu, along with Byrd.

Lieberman and the other conservativeDemocrats(?)and DLC members who cut the "DEAL" voted with their Party against Owens.
Why hang it out in oublic when you don't have to?
They will still get their checks from their Corporate owners.

For refusing to vote for this obvious rigid lobotomy of the appellate courts.

http://senate.gov

He broke with party lines to vote against the selected Owen. If only other Senators, even Voinovich, had the absolute spine to do that.

the a approval rating of 43%

Sure keep on voting for his agenda because he deserves his nominees!

Why are they not worried?, Could be that Focus On the Family is far scarier then the American public? Does * have them all wired with stun guns or some shit? What threat does he hold over them!

I don't think I can wait 1 yr for elections, 4 years for a life raft. I don't think America has it in her to substain the abuse.

/sigh
