"Concerned Women" hurl insults in press release congratulating Owen

WASHINGTON, May 25 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) extends its heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Justice Priscilla Owen on her confirmation today to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

The Senate confirmed Owen by a vote of 56-43, with Sen. Lincoln Chafee (R-Rhode Island) continuing to sell out his President and party. "His President"?

"Finally, this extraordinarily qualified judge achieves what should have been hers four years ago," said Jan LaRue, CWA's chief counsel. "This is a judge who believes in and respects the written Constitution and the limited role of a judge to interpret the law. Her intellect, integrity, temperament and experience should never have been in question.

"Justice Owen's confirmation vote, like those of other pending nominees, should not have been blocked by phony filibusters. If the seven Republican sell-outs had stood with their majority leader, Sen. Bill Frist, instead of agreeing to a compromise that doesn't have the shelf-life of a Twinkie, the filibustering of judges would have ended," LaRue added. "The fact that the Democrats finally agreed to give Owen, Janice Rogers Brown and Bill Pryor an up-or-down vote, knowing that she and they will be confirmed, exposes the Democrats' vicious and deceitful attacks on these nominees as a total sham."

"Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), one of those who signed the compromise and agreed to vote for cloture on Owen, didn't even vote. So much for commitment. Worse yet, the compromise leaves the key to the Supreme Court house door with the Democrats by allowing them to use the filibuster fraud under 'extraordinary circumstances.' The only extraordinary thing about the compromise is that the seven sell-outs fell for a deal Forrest Gump would have seen through," LaRue concluded.

Concerned women: concerned that they aren't good enough servants for their husbands. Concerned that one day the doctor won't give them a refil for their Valium or Xanax.
