Question on the religious rw Gay rational...
Okay, so the delirious religious rw nut jobs claim that if Gay's get the right to marry, civilization as we know it, will be destroyed.

With that in mind, what is their explanation regarding the fact that Gay relationships have been recorded since pretty much the dawn of civilization and has yet to end civilization?

Do the have this bizarre pressure valve theory? To many and there will be a collapse?

I just don't get it.

2. This seems to be a trend of asking christians questions lately
I find myself wondering if this is just a softer way of making a point about Christianity, or if people are really interested in that world view?

3. Wow. I don't even see the word "Christian" in his post
he said something like rw religious wackjobs. I don't see that as a synonym for Christian by a long shot.

7. I'm not against any form of religion...
Christian or otherwise, I'm just against anyone that bastardizes a religion as tool to forward some sort of rw propaganda.

What I consider to be rw religious nutjobs are people that have nothing at all to do with religion, ironically.

4. I think they'd say that civilization is collapsing
honestly. I've talked to right wing religious folks and they seem to feel that abortion, sex, etc., are examples of that.

6. You are under a misconception -- Wingnuts don't do history
Without having to worry about history, they can explain things any way they want.

9. They're just afraid that they might have gay tendencies
It scares them so much they must stamp it out in everyone else.

The religious right believe that God protects our nation as long as we are doing what they (assuming to speak for Him) think we should. If we don't, and allow gay people to get married, or wiccans to practice their faith, or women to control their own reproductive systems, then God will remove His protection and more 9-11's will occur.

This is delusional, but the current GOP has allowed this to become their platform.

10. as a 'recovering' fundie...
... i'll tell you what i think-

People who get deeply involved with RW christianity, are often people whose lives have been or are wildly 'out of control'. And in desperation to find thier 'balance' discover 'ground-rules' or 'get control' fall into the snare of thinking "if I do this, and that, then I will not have to be : vunerable, hurt, abandoned, decieved, destitute, etc. any more.

Seeing others 'do' things which are wrong (acording to thier list of 'do's and don'ts) is too threatening- and can give birth to the NEED to 'control' the world, in a mistaken desire to find safety or refuge for themselves.

It is also kind of like we kids used to do when we felt ..."guilty" deep down. When we point to others who are living 'authentic' lives- and say "Those Muslums are really BAD dudes" somehow we think the 'dark places' within us, won't be exposed. A kind of deflecting attention to others, sometimes gives us false sense of 'righteousness'- (at least for a while)

i'm speaking here about what i've learned in my OWN experience- not for everyone. It was easy for me to say it was 'wrong' to be 'gay' when it was something i had no struggle with- and i'm so very ashamed and regret some of the 'mindsets' i embraced out of ignorance, self-loathing and fear.- i've eaten a LOT of crow in my life-

peace
