"Losing Moses on the Freeway"

is a new book by Chris Hedges who I just saw interviewed on a rerun of Friday night's edition of NOW on PBS. He's a Harvard Divinity Graduate and the son of a minister who infiltrated the Christian Coalition and wrote an expose of it for the latest Harper's Magazine.

He was incredibly articulate and totally nailed the danger, fear, and limitations of the growing evangelical theocratic movement.

He was fantastic and elucidated beautifully the hypocrisy of the RW nuts and used a litany of Biblical quotations to reinforce his point of view.

I definitely intend to check out his article or book or both.

Did anyone see the interview or is anyone familiar with his writing?

go google him. He's quite a character. Got booed off the stage at Rockford University (or College) for an anti-war speech and was a war correspondant for the NYT for 15 years.

I'm gonna go dig around for a bit more info on him.

2. Yes. These people need to speak loud and clear.

Especially about Dean's comment "White Christain Party". Everyone knows what he was talking about. It is up to the "Chris Hedges" of this country to say they understood what he was saying.

you are absolutely right on all points! I was so enthused I had to get on line at my local library to place a hold on the book.

5. People of the Christian right are enablers

They have maxed out. I know people that say they will not go to church again. They are political enablers to the PNAC crowd and were driven to frenzy with abortion and gay marriage so they would not stay home on voting day.

They have had there offensive and they are there, but everyone has had a chance to talk to those that will listen and those that listen don't like being used and they do not like the warping of Christianity to promote hate and intolerance.

A good question is what percentage of people of voting age will attend church this Sunday. The Christian right has been used and I think there will be people like me that never vote Republican again. Republican is a dirty word to me for what they have done to the country. Of course, I believe the two party system and the electorial college are a way of rigging the system. It is important to permanently weaken the Republican Party by refusing their candidates forever.

The Christian right are enablers. The fascist are still the power.
