Lieberman supporters, check in:
Seriously. I know there are startlingly few of you out there.

...And I don't need to hear why you don't support him. I've heard it already.

Someone whose political acumen I value let it slip yesterday that Lieberman was his current fave in the pack. I didn't get a chance to ask him to elaborate, but I figured someone here had a pro-Lieberman argument.

What is it? And again, bash him elsewhere if you must. I have yet to pick an avatar that reflects a choice, but I would like to hear someone explain why they like this guy.

3. Lieberman is hardly worse than Dean, Kerry, Clark, and Graham
as far as I can tell. I think he's bashed unfairly here, considering the rest of the candidates. If he wins the nod, I'll vote for him in the general, but not in the primary.

5. Good thread - I'd like to hear the reasons, too
I might have to end up voting for him (I'm a member of the ABB club, but he is really the only one of the ten I don't have a favorable opinion of.) Tell me what you like about Lieberman.

his attacks on all candidates are ugly....
How many times does one have to be booed BY DEMOCRATS to get a clue?

11. Afraid so!
Yeah, I just wanted to hear it from someone. This fellow we had over to dinner is a great old liberal I've really enjoyed getting to know. Unfortunately he made the Lieberman remark on his way out the door, so I was hoping someone here had something good to say about the man.

Chirp chirp is right. Little help?

p.s. There is no avatar strong enough to help us if * is reselected. ABB indeed.

Joe has mouthed off once too often for *43 and against his fellow Democrats. I cannot in good faith support him until the unlikely day he is nominated as a Democrat. Then, I will, but very reluctantly. He's really gone too far...

And that's about as "positive" for Lieberman as you're gonna get on DU

I'll probably end up supporting Wes Clark if he manages to get his act together. But I'd enthusiastically vote for Lieberman in the general election. He's a traditional liberal on most social issues, is a hawk on foreign policy and supports a pro-growth economic policy. He's a JFK Democrat, and there aren't enough of those around these days.

18. Not a fan - but heard him with Davis today
and within an hour of Ws UN speech he was respectfully (as is his style) critical - that the tone used was not the tone needed... he validated that he believed the war was the right thing to do (consistency points)... but that the recent bombings by terrorists of embassies and the UN shows the world that we all need to work together to go in there, and stop/prevent the terrorism. He stated that this was not a US job and that Bush was not approaching things in the way that would get the international support needed.

This approach - "for the good of the world" (not in terms of WMDs but in terms of stability and security) that the world needed to be involved - and he pitched the need for Iraqi democracy - all these together so that the US could more quickly bring its servicemen/women home) - had I been a supporter of the war effort, would have resonated strongly.

He was very quick to speak against how Bush handled the UN today.
