Tweety: Dean would clean up the Democratic Party and...
take the power from the special interests and give it to the little people! Clinton fears this.

Ok, I'm no Tweety fan and I have been a Clinton fan but the more this race advances, Tweety seems to be on the mark. He feels that Clark has only made an entrance into the race to dampen Deans chances...sounds about right.

1. Clark jumped in when it was clear that Bush is washed up.
Yes, I do agree.

I expect the "corporate fundies" to place a false candidate for us to choose so that can make us believe we are winning.

Just when I think I have the man all figured out, he finds a way to surprise me.

5. Gawd ...of all the shyte I've heard that tweety says...and then he
comes up with this...does tweety have a spilt personality?

A lot of DUers have been saying the same more or less, though.

But lest we not forget that Dean and Clark are Very Cordial to each other, too.

This is going to be real interesting to see how it plays out!

6. The Clintons are about the Clintons
There are good things and bad things about Bill
Clinton but he knows that one of the first things
Dean would do if he gets the nomination is throw
Terry McAuliffe overboard. And Terry Mac is Clintons
guy and his way of maintaining control of the party.

McAuliffe should have been shown the door after the 2002
elections but I suspect that Clinton is propping him up.
Clark is surrounded by Clintonites - the thought that he's
Bill's guy is not hard to believe.

7. I still think it'll be Dean/Clark
I can't see Clark catching up. I really thought he would come out stronger than he did.

And, no, Clinton will not choose the nominee. As much as I like Clinton, I don't want another dynasty. That's why I hope Hillary will stay out of any Presidental race.

We desperately need a good sweep!

9. Dampen Dean's Chances???
Dean would take power from the special interest and give it to the little people?

LOL

Dean wouldn't bother cutting the Pentagon Budget even though it lost over 3.3 Trillion dollars.

And he thinks the Pentagon is responsible for fighting the war on Terrorism... even though protecting our Homeland is the job of first responders and border patrol.

So according to Dean we need a bloated corrupt Pentagon so our our armed forces can fight terrorism abroad... how PNAC of Dean.

12. You need to read what Dean has said on this....

Dean:
“I think it would be foolish to reduce spending on defense at a time when we’re under threat. I disagree with the President about what those threats are, but here’s what we need money for: we need money to buy the uranium and plutonium stockpiles of Russia, which this president is not doing. We need money to change our oil policy. We need to inspect the 98% of cargo containers that come into this country uninspected. We need money to give to the states to help them in homeland security. So I think cutting our defense and homeland security budgets is a mistake. I would reallocate it in a different way than the president does because I don’t think the president has defended this country as much as he’s talked about.”

16. Thank you, TLM! I knew Dean had a plan for the money that
didn't have anything to do with being a "pnac"er!

Gawd the stuff that gets floated around here as verbatim! :-(

14. Dean isn't "pnac"....Dean is for the People....
Check out Dean's speech in Boston tomorrow..He is going to talk about how to get the goverment back in the hands of the People!

"Democracy, Freedom, and Action,” lays out what is at stake in this election.

The Boston speech on Tuesday, September 23rd, part of the campaign’s “September to Remember” effort, will focus on how Dean’s vision for America will restore political power to the American people."

10. The whole Clinton scare is a rethug scheme to milk more donor dollars
Edited on Mon Sep-22-03 11:18 PM by oasis
for Bush's campaign. They intuitively see Bush being eclipsed by Clark which many "Reagan democrats" most likely could stomach. Hillary would be a much harder pill to swallow. The "stop Hillary at all cost" machinery would be raking in tons of money. Stop Clark? not nearly as much money since the Chimp is seen as vulnerable to a perceived centrist that is strong on national security/defense..

It's almost impossible for Hillary to be a viable candidate at this point. How ridculous would it be for Hill to force herself to the top of the ticket after the convention delegates are chosen. Perhaps she will order an assasination or two.

It's amazing how easy Tweety, Safire, Buchannan and Novak can envision a "macheavellian" conspiracy by the Clintons when there is simply nothing there but the overt excesses of PNAC, LIHOP, Halliburton and the run up to war in Iraq goes over their heads.

In conclusion, Hillary is not running it's right wing bullshit.

18. I agree. You guys give the Clintons WAY too much credit.
They're strong, but not that strong. Clark has a pretty big net of support from both sides of the aisle. He's going to be hard to beat by anyone, including Bush.

11. Interesting how we have reviled Matthews for years
at DU and rightly piled scorn on Hairball as an example of everything that's wrong with the American media, but the moment he says something positive about someone's favorite candidate, he becomes a sage.

That's been going on a lot lately--DUers eagerly citing the likes of David Horowitz, the Weakly Standard, Drudge, Howard Kurtz, and Howard Fineman as authoritative sources.

The mind reels. To say nothing of the stomach....

15. I read it.
I think it will be interesting to see what happens when Matthews attacks Dean, as he does with all Democrats. Suddenly Matthews will cease being a political genius and suddenly go back to being a Republican shill.

Sure, Matthews is going to be right now and then. Anyone who talks nonstop will inevitably say something that happens to be true. Even Bill O'Reilly tells the truth now and then, like when he walks out in Jaunary and says, "It sure is cold today."

I just think it's important not to attribute too much credibility to these people, as a lot of us have been doing the past few days by uncritically passing on spin from some very bad sources, simply because we happen to like one remark they happened to make.

19. You must have comprehension problems!
I'm not suggesting that Matthews is always, 90%, 80%, 70%, 60%, 50%, 40%, 30%, 20% or 10% right!

Sure, Matthews is going to be right now and then.

Yeah, I agree with that. Now, where's our disagreement? I guess our only disagreement is in Presidential Candidates.

He got it right this time in my opinion, if you disagree then fine!

23. Actually, I agree.
My point, as I've said twice now, is that it is silly for us to act as though people like Matthews are suddenly credible just because they get one thing out of 1000 right.

Looks like I'm not the one with the comprehension problem here.

26. You'd be a fool not to.
Likewise, if O'Reilly just happens one day to say something nice about a Democrat, you'd be a fool to run around using that as proof of that Democrat's all-around wonderfulness, since O'Reilly has no more credibility than the Nigerian guy who keeps trying to get me to help him access his late uncle's money in that damn foreign bank account.

21. As Einstein said...

there's always an answer to every problem that is straightforward, simple, fits preconceptions, and is invariably wrong.

Would that it all were this simple, a time machine really took us all back to the politics and political situation of about 1978, and it were all a massive plot rather than a reflection of the diversity and fractitiousness of Democrats.

It's probably all a side phenomenon of Dean and Clark peaking- every idiot suddenly has an opinion that omniscience is on his side.
