5. On CSpan 2....
The Dems in the Senate have been shredding Bush apart. They're really attacking Bush's call for an additional $87 billion and they say they plan for plenty of debate on the issue in the coming days. Right now they're having a quorum call, but stay tuned...this should be a good week on the Senate floor.

i'm strong enough not to be "messed up" by the freakin tube.
i'm surprised you don't think you are likewise. living in an echo chamber can mess you up too.

35. I'm immunized against TV by having a clue. But want to know the lies
being put into the sheeple's brains. Friends ask me how I can stand to closely follow the BushNazi's antics without going out of my everlovin' mind. I tell them that it's like being in a bathtub with a snake; I prefer to keep my eye on it rather than look away.

8. I TRIED to watch it, but couldn't bear it. Turned it off after a few
minutes, right after the 15th use of the word "terrorist," somewhere near the bit about how Saddam's "rape chambers" are now shut down due to the incredible moral virtue of the US Army.

14. I've been no cable - no dish for 6 weeks now.
So far, I have not broken out in a rash and I do not need any (extra) medication.

I just didn't re-subscribe to the service after moving. I now have one of those old fashioned antenna things on my roof and I get PBS just fine - from across the sound in Seattle from those antennas up on Capital Hill I guess.

I do miss The Daily Show / Jon Stewart. But there's a whole lot of good stuff on internet audio now. For example I am now listening to the C-SPAN (UN post *Bush reply).

I get almost all the news I need from DU-LBN - anytime of the day or nite. Thanks to all you DU news junkies/posters out there.

B-)

I've done without cable for nearly 5 years now. You'd be amazed at the time you free up for more important things - like reading and talking to friends and thinking deep thoughts - when you turn the idiot box off.

24. Dark ages
History will probably view this period in time as the dark ages of our nation. We have government controlled media, suppression of freedom of speech, violation of freedom of assembly with protestors herded into first amendment zones, Patriot Act, etc., etc., etc.

I've gotten so fed up with the endless parade of talking heads on the "news" channels that the only one I have marked on my cable box is CNN Headlines - just so I can get a brief rundown of the news during the weekend.

I actually gave network news another shot the other day (I think it was CBS) , and was treated to a facinating, in-depth look at the "razor wars"! You know, the fierce competition between Schick and Gillette? See, Gillette is currently leading the shaving implement market with their MACH III razor which, of course, utilizes three cutting blades and Schick, not wanting to fall too far behind intorduced their "Quattro" razor which OH MY GOD, MY BRAIN IS MELTING - SWEET JESUS HELP ME, OH MY GOD THE PAIN! NO, NO BARBERSHOP MAN-ON-THE-STREET INTERVIEWS ABOUT A STUPID, GODDAMN MARKETING CAMPAIGN! HOLY EVERLOVING CRAP, WHY IS THIS ON MY TV!

Seriously, it's just not worth it.

on C-Span. When it was over, I flipped to CNN, then MSNBC. They were talking about the CA recall. I flipped to C-Span2. They were having a roll-call vote. So I turned the TV off. What the heck did the chimp* say anyway? He was so borning, I kept yelling for him to shut up.

31. I am involved in a one woman campaign to scold CNN
for violating journalistic principles and ethics so I have to watch. Apparently there is a big shake-up going on in the executive offices of CNN to improve their programming and ratings, so I'm trying to steer them in the right direction. Propaganda no longer works on me at my at my age. I am very critical about what I see and hear. Wish me luck!

34. Do not drink coffee while watching any of the cable views channels
I start to shake like the pill popper character that Sherry O'Terry use to play on SNL that would bring a cart up to the pharmacists with a ton of prescriptions and her lipstick would be on sideways.

That's what I feel like when I drink coffee and listen to right wingers on the cable views channels.
