The Rove Comment shows how little strategy we have...
I hate to say it, but the Right Wing is always on the attack; they are always the injured party. We always react to what they say or do.

I'm guessing that Rove has about 50 to 100, or even more, little stunts in his desk drawer that he can play to change the focus of the media. That doesn't make him brilliant, but he is playing another game. Its a game that we aren't playing.

Look back to the Nixon years, the Reagan years. Lee Atwater defined the the "dirty tricks." That is Rove's game. He enjoys it. It has nothing to do with policy or governing a nation. Its all about winning.

I'm going to guess that he has some guidelines that he applies to situations. These guidelines have been tested and he knows that they work. So while we get tangled up in the details, Rove just selects something that fits the situation and applies it.

To end this rant, its about time that our leadership get with the program. Personally, I think that Howard Dean understands this. Dean needs to give our Democratic elected officials some marching orders. I don't like marching step...like they (R) do, but Rove has defined the game, now its up to us to play the same game.

End of rant.

8. Remember when Cheney told Biden(?) to "Go fuck yourself?"
Well he waited until the time was right and dropped the F-bomb. We should have used Rove's comments at a time more beneficial to us. When the Republican's needed a little cooperation, we could smack the with a "Rove response."

10. er... he said it to Leahy... as he left a committee hearing
and supposedly said it when he thought he was off mike. Wasn't for media consumption.

13. I believe it was entirely
for "media consumption." I am unaware of anything that would indicate otherwise.

An example of where some democrats err is when people want to "force" Rove to do something similar to the senator who was "sorry" for the Nazi reference. Baloney. Rove believes what he is saying. We need to concentrate on exposing this character defect to the public. We are at a time when the public is turning strongly against the war in Iraq. The president is being exposed as having lied to the country about his reasons for going to war. We need to stay focused, and use Rove's obnoxious statement as evidence against the administration in the court of public opinion.

message. Glad I'm a Democrat, because Republicans attack the messenger, not the message.

9. Agreed... however,
Rove has had some serious miscalculated moves in the past several months.

I don't disagree with what you are saying - and I am glad that some congressional dems have finally seemed to realize that bushco and teamdelay have been playing from a completely different rule book.

That said - Rove seems to be a bit wounded right now... off his game - and his miscalculations have weakened bushco with congress... that and cheney's and bush's utter belief that they can not concede an inch - even if it costs their supporters (in this case congressional gop) a pound.

Very interesting to watch - and to see how this one unfolds... either the context (public perception/willingness to be fooled) - or the rules themselves are starting to shift on rove/bushco.

11. Did you mean "WE are always the injured party"?
I think you meant that, and you should edit it. BUt amyway. I agree to a point- I think Kerry's and remarks yesterday were great and to the point, and we have been enjoined today by Kristin Breitweiser.
I think Rove actually miscalculated on this one.

14. I meant that the Republicans are always complaining about the
unfairness of the World towards them. They complain about Liberal media, patriotism, high taxes on the wealthy, education, persecution of the pharmceutical industry. They are whiners!

12. I have always thought, too, that KKK has a ton of tricks up his sleeve
just waiting to be deployed when the situation lends itself, i.e., bush's numbers plummet, a bunch of soldiers are killed, bad news on the economy, etc.

When the rest of us are surfing the net or doing crossword puzzles he is devising insidious "situations" that he can be staged when needed to deflect attention from the matter at hand.
