Rambo III and Iraq/Afghanistan today
I never saw this movie and it happened to be on in the background of my house while I was packing a few things for a move....It takes place in Afghanistan during the Soviet occupation. It is pretty funny when the Russian general has an American held captive and the American tells the Soviet general how the Afghans would rather die than be slaves to an occupying force....that an enemy like that cannot be defeated so the Soviets should go home to avoid having their Vietnam. It went on for a few more minutes with reasons that could have been given directly to Commander Cuckoobananas about why Iraq would be a great failure.

3. Even better reason for this movie to be played over and over
to the Freepers...no doubt, back in the day, they loved this type of movie...nowadays it has got to remind them of one of their greatest all time fuck ups.

2. I personally enjoyed the introduction of Massoud
I wonder if the filmmakers named the Afghan leader that name on purpose if he is supposed to be "The" Ahmed Shah Massoud.

They even gave him the real Massoud's personality.

All I can say is damn shame he died the way he did and when he did. (The real Massoud I mean)

5. That was a tactical coup for the Taliban to take out Massoud
Massoud was, according to Richard Clarke, the one Afghan who could have run the whole country if we had supported the Northern Alliance earlier than Sept. 11, 2001.

7. Yep and Clinton wanted to do just that
But with the Rethug machine screaming "No War For Monica!" and the rw talking heads actually having the gall to refer to Massoud as a drug dealer and equating him with the crack dealers here in America Clinton unfortunately backed down due to the republican pressure and never got the chance to work something out.

Then in 2000 Massoud sent a letter to Cheney warning him of the threat Bin laden posed and how the Bush admin should assist the Northern Alliance in crushing the Taliban but of course the Bush Crime Family was too busy plotting war in Iraq to be concerned with something so trivial as our nation's safety.

4. "Rambo III" is far too subtle and sophisticated for the Shrub. Maybe if
someone could explain its deep symbolism and meanings to him....

6. Dude we are very very lucky
That the majority of people in Afghanistan do not look upon us like they did the russians. If they did the body count there of our boys would make Iraq and even vietnam look tame.

Those people there are among the toughest warriors in the world and have always been so. It was total stupidity of the russians to think they could take them on like that. Tough people and some of the worst terrain on the face of the earth.

As for the movie? I was disappointed in RamboIII. The part at the end when the 2 helicopters playing chicken had me almost laughing. :)

If you want to see good rambo see first blood (rambo 1) and rambo 2
