From Freepers "ProLife Stem Cell Fact Sheet" How NUTS IS THIS?
Edited on Fri Jul-29-05 09:23 PM by K8-EEE
To Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) and the great celebrities like the late Chistopher Reeves - Michael J. Fox - Mary Tyler Moore - or any pro-stem cell politicians if they really support the use of human embryonic stem cell they should please follow these instructions:

#1) Go to a clinic with your 'better half' and create a fertilized child embryo.

#2) Use that particular embryo for your own research and your own cure or to help others.

OPTION: If you are past the production point ask one of your children or grandchildren to provide(or be) the raw materials for your miracle cure.

Regardless of the political decisions, we can be certain of one thing: those who support and yell the loudest for embryonic stem cell research funding will NOT be the people who will provide their embryonic offspring to the research laboratory.

=====================

um...EXCUSE ME??

This from the people who rah-rah the whole Iraq debacle and then nobody goes to the recruiters office, they are making the point that their CELLS won't be subjected to research? Who CARES!

NUTS! Oops, edited to include link, scroll down for nutty "fact sheet."

10. I'd have no problem with doing that
Y'know why? Because IT ISN'T A CHILD, for fuck's sake.

All you lurking freepers, listen close: If you can deduct it from your taxes, it is a child. If you can't deduct it from your taxes, it is not a child.

Are we clear on that?

Tax deduction: child.
No tax deduction: not a child.

Tax deduction: child.
No tax deduction: not a child.

All together now:

Tax Deduction! Child! No Tax Deduction! Not A Child!

Now scream that twenty times at the top of your lungs.

By jove, I think you've got it now, old chap.

cuz I could use some more deductions! I'll just tell the IRS that the little tykes are still microscopic, bless their little hearts! Ooops, they wouldn't HAVE any hearts, that's right and speaking of that the ProLifers at FR thought they should arrest 30 underage children whose parents got deported during a raid at their work.

They were left unattended, one of them goes "arrest the little brats then."

"fertilized egg child." oooooh BROTHER!

16. I Kind Of Think Frist & GWB Are Playing Good Cop/Bad Cop On This
They saw the polls -- that the vast majority cares about this issue and disagrees with GWB stand on it, now they will nicely "respect each other's opinions" reach some fake "compromise" or something.

I would be willing to donate whatever eggs I have left and my husband will donate what he has to to get these things done. I wold consider it an honor to have helped in some small way to ridding the world of some disease.

I don't think these people realize that donating is not forced on people. You can tell them they do not have your consent to use anything that is left after you have been fertilized.

I guess one difference between some of us and some of them is that a lot of us are willing to back up what we believe in. It never ceases to amaze me!!!!

20. Shakes head and laughs lol (warning this may be graphic)
Are these kids on free republic or are they adults? And if they are adults can we get them to stop breeding? You know I have parkinson's disease and I can't believe that these freaks believe that an embryo that gets "flushed down the drain" is more important to them than a living human being.

Hah they next time that am frozen and crippled up on the floor crawling to the potty I wonder where all these good prolifers are than?

Let's see, they dont want me in thier church so I can pray for a cure. They dont want me on SSDI so I can support my self. So now they will rather see drill a hole in my head with dbs surgery than to explore alternative treatments with stem cell research! Well here's my question to the freepers.

Will you clean up after me on the days I cant make it to the toilet? Culture of life hah . Thats a good one. Oh if anyone wants to copy and paste this on free republic they have my permission to do so. I personaly can't go to that site I lost my english to inbreed dictionairy.

Good Lord.

Anyway, stem cell research isn't about grabbing embryos from IVF clinics that people don't want used for research; it's about using the ones that would already be discarded.. Most of the people with extra embryos at the clinics SUPPORT the research!

Fucking Morans.

24. Embryos
Embryos from fertility clinics are disposed of in one of three ways:

1) Implanted into a womb.

2) Used for stem cell research.

3) Put into an incinorator with a bunch of other medical wasate, and burned up in the 2100+ degree heat.

That's it -- those are your options.

Any female 15-45 that opposes using stem cell for research, better be preganent.

Any male better be paying a lot of child support.

29. They will be the first in line
I work for a non-profit association that funds over 400 research programs a year. Every week I receive information regarding some of that research and the advances that are being achieved.

Even though we have a government that won't help fund this type of research (btw, the research is extremely expensive, approx $3780 per hour), progress is being made and diseases such as Parkinsons, heart disease, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Scelerosis, Alzheimer's and many others are on the brink of some major break-throughs. I have had doctors tell me that it is within a 5 to 10 year window that some of the treatments for these diseases will be radically different from what we know now, and the affects will be amazing.

Just because uneducated fools regurgitate the spiel from the propagandist whose objective is to play on the fears of the uninformed, doesn't mean the world stopped or the scientists/doctors and futurists quit researching, testing, thinking and discovering the cures of tomorrow.

For those on DU who have a debillitating disease or have loved ones who are struggling with one, have faith. Know that there are scientists and doctors in the US and around the world who are working on a multitude of different projects and are trying to find cures and treatments for them.

A few naysayers cannot stop the progress that is being made. Those actually doing the research and testing in the medical science field aren't listening. They are busy working and could care less what some people think. Did ignorance of the masses stop Galileo from confirming the earth rotated around the sun?

25. They had one of these wingnuts on NBC's Today Show this morning
peddling this "adoption" shit and attacking Frist for his switch. I'd like to point out that they had NO other opposing view or scientific view to counter the drivel coming out of this woman's mouth and Lester Holt didn't bother to question her or challenge her on one single thing. He just let her drone on and on, telling one outrageous one after another on stem cell research. :wtf:
