Re: Cindy Sheehan, FreeRepublic and An Idea for a Petition
I read this story and thought it would be a great idea to start a petition to send "Kristinn Taylor" and her fellow Freepers to Iraq, since they claim to be so "pro-troops".

They should do something truly "pro-troops" and go to Iraq and fight, so the troops can come home safely.

If it's such a great idea, Kristinn, that's where you belong.

Let's start a petition!

"But not everyone supports her. Kristinn Taylor, co-leader of the Washington, D.C., chapter of FreeRepublic.com, said Sheehan's protest is misguided and is hurting troop morale.

"She has a political agenda that goes way beyond her son's death in combat," said Taylor, whose conservative group has held pro-troop rallies since the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks and counter-protests of anti-war demonstrations."

4. I've been wanting to post a thread about this...
"she's doing this for her own political gain" garbage.

What the fuck exactly IS Cindy Sheehan's "own political gain"??? She's not a politician. How can there BE Cindy's "own political gain"?

If her "own gain" means to affect events in a way consistent with her ideals -- or, in this case, get Bush to answer for leading her son to senseless slaughter -- then YES that's what she's doing! That's what she SAYS she's doing! And what is immoral about that? Is that not the very definition of patriotism -- putting your ass on the line for your ideals?

What's the "GAIN" exactly? To get Bush to answer for his crimes? Well, damn straight.

This is another example of a common propagandistic method, which is to illicit Pavlovian reactions to catch-phrases: "political gain" is a dirty word. Their minions don't ever THINK about what it MEANS.

5. Kristinn Taylor has an agenda
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 01:54 PM by BOSSHOG
KEEP OUR KIDS IN IRAQ UNTIL THEY ARE ALL SLAUGHTERED. That's the only contribution free republic makes to our country; supporting an ignorant war monger. Taylor is a worthless conservative cunt with no concept of right or wrong and a heart so full of false pride he can't possibly say he is wrong.

9. I wonder if the outdated food and watered down fuel that Cheney/
Halliburton provided for the troops hurt the troop's morale? Did extending the troops tour of duty in Iraq for four months hurt the morale? Did the Downing street memos hurt the morale? Did not finding the WMD they went into Iraq over hurt their morale? Did the Iraqi people throwing RPGs instead of Rose Petals Hurt the Morale? Did the POW scandal hurt the troop's morale? Does the FReepers fear of joining up to fight for Bush's oil company donors interests abroad hurt the morale? Did eating Rubber Thanksgiving Turkey hurt the Morale? Did "Stop Loss" hurt Morale?

If all those things above didn't have the trooper's morale at an all time low, then I don't think that the mother of a soldier who fought and died along with his patriotic band of brothers and sisters in Iraq, should hurt morale much...

10. Maj. General Kristinn Taylor and
the 101st FreeRepublic Keyboarding Expeditionary Regiment, reporting for duty.

They can bring their heavy weapons: armored-up Porta-potties.
