Albright defends Democratic candidate Clark
Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright on Monday defended retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark, who since announcing his presidential bid has come under fire from former Pentagon colleagues who say he was disliked among fellow commanders.

Albright, who served under President Bill Clinton and worked closely with Clark during the war in Kosovo that he engineered as NATO supreme commander, credited Clark with the victory there.

"He really won that war militarily," Albright said during a lunch with Miami Herald editors and writers to promote her new memoirs, "Madam Secretary"

"He's a very fine person and a very good friend," Albright added, "and I don't like some of the attacks that are coming about him. I think he was a very fine soldier and a patriot, and I'm glad that he got into the race."

He has emerged as a leading critic of the war in Iraq and is viewed by some Democratic and Republican strategists as the most potent threat to President Bush's reelection next year ...

The bullshit is getting too deep for even diplomats to stay diplomatic.

5. How Ironic.........
That opposing Bushies war is considered unpatriotic, yet, those who slam a four star General are not considered unpatriotic.
Al Frankens book say it all about the chickenhawks.
Like my husband says, you don't get to four stars without earning it. And how many starts does Bushieboy have?????

9. We don't need an XtrLiberal as Secretary of State....
It's impossible to be the "Secretary of State" and be a great big liberal.......Come on now....we need a tiny bit of hawk in our representatives to the world....some leverage.....or else we'd be giving it all away. Now that would be almost as dangerous as what we have now.

8. I love her
I think Albright would've made a wonderful first female president. It's a pity she can't run.

10. This is a good thing?
I mean, it's good for me since I don't like the insensitive, uncompassionate, warmongering woman.

Oops, that explains it.

14. Maddy, famous for heartless "60 Minutes" remark: "The price is worth it."
Turning now to the actual use of the phrase "the price is worth it," we come to U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's reply to Lesley Stahl's question on "60 Minutes" on May 12, 1996:

Stahl: "We have heard that a half a million children have died . I mean that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And--you know, is the price worth it?"

Albright: "I think this is a very hard choice, but the price--we think the price is worth it."
