New movie is an Oscar shoe in! "Michael Moore Hates America"
Everybody’s favorite leftist filmmaker Michael Moore, has himself become the inspiration for a documentary. Michael Wilson is the director of ''Michael Moore Hates America,'' a documentary dedicated to opposing Moore’s negative attitude towards his homeland. Wilson has set up a website called MichaelMooreHatesAmerica.com, where you can go to find out more information about the project. Here’s how he describes the film:

Contrary to its title, ''Michael Moore Hates America'' isn’t a hatchet job on the filmmaker. It’s a journey across the nation where we meet celebrities, scholars, and average folks alike, all of whom are living the American Dream and proving that America is a great place to be! In the process, we’ll look at Michael Moore’s claims about the country, its people, and our way of life.

2. WHY?
WHY are those who love America enough to point out its problems and get people energized enough to work on those problems so as to make this country even better than it is, ALWAYS referred to as "America haters?" WHY is it always given that spin? WHY isn't it recognized that by trying to make this country even better by working on its problems, such people are actually far more patriotic than those who wrap themselves in the flag and do NOTHING for their fellow Americans except demand flag-waving, jingoistic adherence to the government's line?

3. the trailer is weird
like it was filmed in the sixties. Not just trying to look retro; it really IS retro! I gotta think twice about the fact Michael Moore won't be interviewed by the guy. He's stakes himself out like Moore did in Roger & Me. This gimmick has legs.

4. Well, you have a point but I still think you're wrong overall
Have you seen Bowling for Colobine? It won an Oscar. It deserved to win an Oscar. It's brilliant, fantastic, and the best documentary I've ever seen.

8. I heard the original title for the movie was......
Triumph of the will. They later checked with their PR manager who said "that would be too Obvious" :silly:

9. Why are you promoting this movie?
I saw some cable channel ideologues pushing this bit of opportunistic propaganda, sort of like they've been doing with other fundie entertainers, but was surprised to see it being done here.

17. You think I'm promoting this movie?
..ok, I see you haven't been at DU long... here, we don't just report on news flattering to progressives, we also discuss that which is unflattering.

That way, when a conservative smugly breaks the unflattering news to you, you don't stand there with your mouth gaping open - you are prepared with factual refutations.

Did that clear it up for you?

that "concieved" the project probably isn't even political. Bring your money freeperzoids.

14. Why are those always claiming to "Love America"
and "live the American dream" always foaming at the mouth about the views, lives, tastes, dreams, work, etc. of their fellow Americans? Moore sees real problems with our country, and loves it enough to try to make it better. Wingnuts scream about loving their country-but deep down, they hate it's government, free speech, civil rights, most of it's citizens...so what part of America is it that they "love"? They too are trying to change it-into something the founding fathers would never recognise!

20. Ani't that the truth....
The freepers are gutless bullies, bigots and fools. They 'think' that they will be immune, as Whimmies (WhiteHeteroMales) to the negatives coming. But just as a rising tide raises all boats, a flushing toilet flushes all t..ds.

21. I am sure that there were enough Patriots,

or average folks, to find and interview in Pre-WWII Italy, Germany and Japan who though that their country was the Best Place to live in.

I am sure that you can find other countries today, which have major problems, whose average folks are gushing with pride over their failed social systems.

I ask the question will this website be interviewing the victims of violent crime or of corporate greed and disregard for it's downsized employees?

Will it interview the most vulnerable of society, which have been swept aside, and ask them how great they feel about this land of plenty?

I can walk through Harvard Square, the namesake of one of the richest universities in the country, and see plenty of homeless folks.

Will they be interviewed? I doubt it.
