Is the Wilson matter on your front page?
Edited on Tue Sep-30-03 07:41 AM by elfin
Just curious - it wasn't on any of the papers Aaron Brown looked at in his last segment - is on lower part of Milwaukee Journal today, upper right of New York Times.

How quickly it is banished will tell if the media is going to really follow this.

edit - upper left of NYT - need some more coffee

2. Yes
It made the front page of the Washington Post, but not the upper right but the upper left column. The upper right column has a story about how many people don't have health care.

4. Top front page of USA today and NJ Star Ledger...
Although the Ledger surprisingly headlined it "Growing feud of CIA leak" or some such thing to imply that it wasn't an investigation into an illegal action as much as partisan bickering.

This is surprising because the Ledger has been really good about having front page articles critical of the admin and especially Iraq.

But still, it's there.

I also notice that it's still the headline story at CNN.com.

6. It's the fifth story
on the internet site for our local paper (we quit buying the newspaper because of its extreme right-wing bent), preceded by the story of soldier's death in Iraq yesterday, increase in uninsured Americans, cattle and horse sale for the sesquicentennial of the King Ranch, and our top story: traffic route change at the mall.

It's probably at the bottom of the first page, thanks to our new moderate editor.

10. Austin American-Statesman, yes
Top story, big headline, picture of Rovesputin.

http://www.statesman.com/hp/content/homepage/index.html

The website headline is snarky: "Democrats seek inquiry in CIA agent leak." The print edition headline is much better: "FBI targets unmasking of CIA agent."

16. Wilson
If this had happened in the Clinton WH heads would already have rolled. Clinton cares about this country. This administration doesn't give a damn. This story might have had legs for a couple of days, but it will be cut off at the knees from now on. It is astounding that the media is so fickle it will not tell us (the country) the truth. A few big headlines and they go back to business as usual. We can only hope though.

17. Interesting Catch: Who knows Greg Miller from the L.A. Times?
The Orlando Sentinel seemed to bury the story yesterday. Today on the on-line news the catchy phrase is:

'Leak accusation stirs White House
Officials deny 'outing' CIA agent whose spouse challenged case for Iraq war"

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/nationworld/sns-cialeak,0,1171755.story?coll=orl-home-headlines

The interesting thing to remember is that the Chicago Tribune just purchased the L.A. Times and has owned the right-leaning Orlando Sentinel for years. They've got this country covered from the Midwest, to the east and west coast. I'm wondering if this Greg Miller has a history of conservative slanting news? If so, we're seeing a good reason to limit monopolized ownership of the news. They slant the news to the right, and the sheep will follow.

22. yes!!!! top story in Waco
I couldn't believe it: in the heart of bush country, this story was on the front page!!! I think people here are becoming aware that bush only uses Waco and Crawford as a phony backdrop. Our VA hospital may be closed. All locals, even the republicans, are worried. If bush truly wanted Waco support, he would step in to save the hospital. Naturally, he has done nothing. What a fool the man is: if he saved the hospital, he would earn the votes of vitually everyone here (except yours truly of course). Even folks in Waco are beginning to realize how little his rhetoric means.

However, one of our weekly columnists used it in his column this morning. Metro section, front page.
