Why did I do it?! Listened to Limbaugh... he said WE'RE scandal-oriented!
He said LIBERALS are "scandal-oriented"!!! He said we "manufacture" these things!!

The liberal caller he actually let on the air couldn't get a word in (after being put on hold through a commercial break and told to wait to have his say). I heard him incredulously cry "for 8 years...!" (as we all would), but Limbaugh just cut him off.

He said there's no "proof" a crime has been committed, much less that the White House was involved. Since when does there have to be "proof" to launch an investigation, or to make it a scandal? If that were the case, there'd be no need for trials... Rove would already be in handcuffs. There were plenty of scandals pushed by the apparently "non-scandal-oriented" Right, and the entire U.S. Media, for 8 years. But there was very little evidence.

"Proof"? Well, not yet. But there's plenty of "evidence" to merit an investigation. Evidence like NBC, Time and Robert Novak all claiming that someone at the White House outed a C.I.A. agent for political purposes. Plus, sources inside the White House, according to the Washington Post, verifying that this was done, and it was done for political purposes. Sounds to me like plenty of evidence, not only that a crime was committed, but that someone in the White House was responsible.

Besides, it is Bush's own Attorney General, and C.I.A., that have determined that this merits an investigation... not "liberals" who "manufacture" scandals and are "scandal-oriented".

Before this, he cut the guy off again to go to the Aschcroft press conference, and I thought... "What?! Limbaugh is actually going to do something that remotely resembles NEWS!?!"

Of course, no such thing happened. As soon as he cut to it, a reporter asked "Why did you decide not to appoint an independent counsel?" He didn't even wait for Ashcroft's response. Limbaugh just laughed at the top of his lungs! Then, you (barely) heard Aschcroft ending his answer, which was, basically "This is an ongoing criminal investigation, and we will therefore not comment on it". Then he shouted (again over Aschcroft speaking) "SCREW YOU!", implying that's what the AG was telling the reporter.

Limbaugh took this as an opportunity to launch into a rant about how, apparently, "liberals HATE decisiveness!!" It's "one of the many things he's learned about liberals over the years". Now forget that that reporter might have been from Fox or the American Spectator, for all he knew, and that the question was a legitimate one by any standards, given that many elected representatives have been calling for an independent investigation in the last day or two. What I want to know is this: When Clinton spokespersons over the years refused comment, citing an ongoing investigation, did Limbaugh praise the Clinton administration for its "decisiveness"?

1. I'm Not Sure What's More Maddening...
1) That folks like Limbaugh exist... spewing their lies.

or

2) That folks exist who LISTEN to Limbaugh and believe his lies without question.

2. thanks for listening for the rest of us
Getting in the trenches with dittoheads is kind of like eating a whole bag of chili-cheese fritos. You really want to puke it all up about an hour later.

4. Great analogy. I think Limbaugh's gone even more off the deep end...

... than usual. In the past, he'd just use faulty logic and just regurgitate Repub talking points. But I swear his attempts at saying that LIBERALS are scandal-mongers and that there's no evidence here just seemed completely separated from reality.

I mean, even the White House is (begrudgingly) admitting at least that there is an investigation, that they will co-operate with it (yeah, right).

What happened to honor and integrity? Why can't you just say (if you're so sure you're right) "Okay, investigate away, however you want. We know we're innocent, so it doesn't matter. The truth will bear us out."

11. but don't you see it?
it's happening everywhere. The binge is over -- it's time to pay the piper. I for one will delight in watching this massive collective conservative hangover. Watching these fuckers wretch as they worship the porcelain god. I'll be the one playing vintage AC/DC music in the background.

8. Rush was FOAMING!
Edited on Tue Sep-30-03 04:14 PM by Richardo
I was driving across town to one of our other offices and he was on with a "Frank" who was challenging him on an investigation...Frank used the word "dastardly" so Rush plays a tape where Senator Schumer used "dastardly".

You can guess the rest - Rush accuses "Frank" of mimicking Schumer (because nobody has EVER used the word "dastardly" before) and then...

...he explodes. Rush went on a five-minute rant on everything the Dems have done, punctuating it with "THAT's pretty dastardly, Frank!!"
(Frank is long gone at this point - Rush claims he hung up. Right.)

On and on and on. You could hear his voice quavering. The spittle was coming through the speaker in my car.

It was....Hilarious!!

And all of this for a "non-story". Keep telling yourself that, PilodinalCyst Boy, maybe even YOU'LL believe it eventually.

12. I happened to be driving to the airport
when this occured and since there are no other options in Oklahoma for talk radio I listen to his drivel. But this rant came from his bowels which told me that he is afraid that the Dems have a real issue that can create real problems for doofus and company. The thing about Rush is that he relies on a public that waits for him to inform them and he just fudges it whenever it suits his purposes. He claimed that Novak said it was nothing and that Wilson's wife was an analyst. Both of those statements for the better part of the day have been discredited and Rush knew that but went ahead anyway claiming them until he gets the talking points on how to handle them. He is a servant and messenger of the PNAC and that is all he is.

10. What really boggles the mind...
or at least what boggles my mind, even beyond the level of hypocrisy the pukes display, is their denial of said hypocricy. You know, it usually goes this way-

Carville: You KNOW if it we were talkin' about the Clinton white house, you people would be all over this like (witty cajunism).

Wingnut: (smugly smiling) No, James...

These folks really fail to see how hypocritical they are. RW radio brushes this fact aside, and I don't suppose &colmes ever brings it up...

Are they in total denial (rush) or just oblivious (freeps)?
