3. God, this is scary.

Just got off the phone with Mom. The house is boarded-up, and she & Dad are leaving Kenner as I type this message.

The Causeway and I-10 and congested, but still flowing and not yet in gridlock. I expect New Orleans to hit full-on Exodus Mode in about five hours or so.

4. and that's not even the "nightmare scenario"

push the eye 60 miles west and that's what we're scared of. The lowlying areas to the south are already under mandatory evacuation. There will be no similar call in Orleans Parish(too many people here who can't) but there will be some sort of call strongly recommending flight for those who can. That will come in a couple of hours. There will be a curfew going into effect tomorrow afternoon, most likely.

10. Believe me, we're well aware of what's going on.

The interstates around New Orleans will probably be switched to outbound traffic on both lanes later this afternoon. This is the one people have feared ever since New Orleans was developed. The nice person below mocked us as Jesus freaks, but if you pray, I suggest you do it now, because the city will not have time to evacuate if it takes a direct hit. If that happens, the death toll could be astronomical.
