4. CNN front page
http://www.cnn.com/

Bottom right. (They usually (always) have a poll there, so if someone says "CNN poll" and no link, this is probably what they mean.)

12. It should be!
Or, gross negligence by the government?

It was at 64% too little, too late when I voted.

It's Time to Demand More Polls on Impeaching Bush
By Bob Fertik
Created 2005-08-24 02:09

On June 30, a Zogby poll found 42% of Americans said "if it is found that President Bush did not tell the truth about his reasons for going to war with Iraq, Congress should hold him accountable through impeachment."

http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1007

According to the Washington Post, even pollster John Zogby "couldn't believe his eyes." "It was much higher than I expected," Zogby said.

Despite the explosiveness of this poll - or because of it - the poll received virtually no media coverage. A week later, Washington Post blogger Dan Froomkin wrote:

More than four in 10 Americans, according to a recent Zogby poll, say that if President Bush did not tell the truth about his reasons for going to war with Iraq, Congress should consider holding him accountable through impeachment.

But you wouldn't know it from following the news. Only three mainstream outlets that I can find made even cursory mention of the poll last week when it came out.

You also wouldn't know it judging from the political discourse in Washington, but that makes a little more sense. After all, impeachment is for all practical purposes a political act, not a legal one. So with a Republican-controlled Congress that doesn't even like to perform basic White House oversight, it's basically a moot point.

Nevertheless, could there be anything that 42 percent of Americans agree on that the media care about so little? At the time, Bush's approval rating was just 43%. Since then, Bush's approval has dropped even lower - down to 36%.

It's time for other pollsters to follow up on the Zogby Poll and to ask about impeaching George Bush. When the Lewinsky scandal broke in 1998, just about every pollster in the business started polling on impeachment:

So why is Bush being treated differently?

Here's what you can do:

1) Write Zogby (marketing@zogby.com) to thank them for asking about impeachment in June, and encourage them to keep asking the question.

2) Write all the other major pollsters and ask them why they haven't asked voters about impeaching Bush:

You can also use these forms:
DemocracyCorps: http://democracycorps.com/contact.html
Gallup: http://www.gallup.com/help/con

Here is a form letter you can personalize:

In 2003, George Bush invaded Iraq primarily because Iraq allegedly had Weapons of Mass Destruction that could threaten the United States.

But last October, the Duelfer Report proved there were no WMD's in Iraq in 2003. And this May, the Downing Street Memos proved the pre-war "intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy" to sell an illegal invasion of Iraq to Congress, the American people, and the world.

On June 30, a Zogby poll found 42% of Americans said "if it is found that President Bush did not tell the truth about his reasons for going to war with Iraq, Congress should hold him accountable through impeachment."

http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1007

Why haven't you asked Americans whether they believe Bush should be
impeached for lying about Iraq? When the Lewinsky scandal broke in 1998, nearly every pollster asked about impeachment:

http://democrats.com/clinton-impeachment-polls

Why are you treating George Bush differently from Bill Clinton?
Are you biased against Democrats and towards Republicans?
Please post any non-automated responses you get below!

Congressman Jim Leach (R, Iowa) has informed Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D, California) that he will co-sponsor her Resolution of Inquiry into Bush Administration communications with the U.K. about Iraq at the time of the Downing Street Memos. Leach is the first Republican member of Congress to publicly support a demand for an inquiry into the Bush Administration's pre-war claims. The 131 congress members who have signed Congressman John Conyers' letter to the President about the Downing Street Memo are all Democrats. The 11 Senators who have asked the Senate Intelligence Committee to do the investigation it committed to in February 2004 but never did are all Democrats.

The Resolution, H. Res. 375, is a privileged resolution which must be brought to a vote in the House International Relations Committee by September 16th, or Lee is permitted to demand a vote of the full House. Fifty-two Democrats, including Lee, have co-sponsored the Resolution. Leach is the first Republican to join them, and he is a member of the International Relations Committee.. "

...for those catching up to congressional procedures, a resolution of inquiry is the 1st step in impeachment. The resolution provides for investigation needed to draft the articles of impeachment, which would then be voted on...
