Please post INSPIRATIONAL songs (for CD project)
I asked for protest songs earlier; now I want ones that inspire and move you. religious ones are welcome; but I also mean ones like Des'ree's You Gotta Be or If I Had a Hammer or Let It Be Me (Indigo Girls) or even All Things Just Keep Getting Better. Load it on me.....

24. "Angels Among Us" (Alabama)
Prelude
(spoken )

I was walking home from school
on a cold winter day,
took a short cut through the woods
and I lost my way.
It was gettin' late
and I was scared and alone
Then a kind old man
took my hand and led me home.
Mama couldn't see him,
but he was standin' there.
I knew in my heart,
he was the answer to my prayers.

Chorus:

Oh, I believe there are angels among us,
sent down to us from somewhere up above.
They come to you and me in our darkest hours
to show us how to live,
to teach us how to give,
to guide us with a light of love.

When life held troubled times
and had me down on my knees,
there's always been someone
to come along and comfort me.

A kind word from a stranger
to lend a helping hand,
a phone call from a friend
just to say, "I understand".

Ain't it kinda funny
at the dark end of the road,
someone lights the way with just
a single ray of hope.

Repeat chorus.
Bridge:

They wear so many faces,
show up in the strangest places,
grace us with their mercies
in our time of need

Repeat chorus.

6. Well, there is a whole bunch of Irish songs when they
were under the thumb of the Britsh, to the point where they had to sing love songs whose words were code for the revolution.

8. "Standin' Knee Deep in a River and Dyin' of Thirst" (Kathy Mattea)
Friends I could count on,
I could count on one hand,
With a leftover finger or two.
I took 'em for granted,
Let 'em all slip away.
Now where they are, I wish I knew.

They roll by just like water,
And I guess we never learn.
Go through life parched and empty,
Standin' knee deep in a river and dyin' of thirst.

Sometimes I remember.
Sweethearts I've known.
Some I've forgotten, I suppose.
One or two still linger,
Oh, and I wonder now,
Why I ever let them go.

They roll by just like water,
And I guess we never learn.
Go through life parched and empty,
Standin' knee deep in a river and dyin' of thirst.

So the sidewalk is crowded:
The city goes by.
And I rush through another day,
And a world full of strangers,
Turn their eyes to me,
But I just look the other way

They roll by just like water,
And I guess we never learn.
Go through life parched and empty,
Standin' knee deep in a river and dyin' of thirst.

They roll by just like water,
And I guess we never learn.
Go through life parched and empty,
Standin' knee deep in a river and dyin' of thirst.

I last saw her about 10 years ago at a small country fair in Eastern Washington. She's every bit as terrific as I imagined. And I don't like country music, either. But I sure like her. She's genuine and emotionally healthy -- no codependent crap in her music.

12. Here Comes the Sun - Beatles, Geo Harrison lead
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun,
and I say it's all right

Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
and I say it's all right

Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
and I say it's all right

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...

Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun,
and I say it's all right
It's all right

Woody Guthrie
http://www.ocap.ca/songs/vigilant.html

Vigilante Man

Rainy night down in the engine house
Sleepin' just as still as a mouse
A man came along and chase us out in the rain
Well was that a vigilante man?

Stormy days, we pass the time away
Sleeping in some good warm place
A cop come along we give him a little race
Say was that a vigilante man?

Well tell me why does a vigilante man
Tell me why does a vigilante man
Carry that sawed off shotgun in his hands
To shoot his brothers and sisters down that no good vigilante man

Well I ramble around from town to town
Yeah I ramble around from town to town
Yeah and they run us around like a wild herd of cattle lord
is that your vigilante man?

Well tell me why does a vigilante man
Tell me why does a vigilante man
Carry that club in his hands
Would he beat an innocent man down that no good vigilante man

17. "Get Down Your Line" by The Byrds

Well you think you've got it bad
And you think that you`ve been had
Well you never were so wrong
If you just listen to this song
Your debts will all be doubled
You never gonna help your brother
If you can`t help yourself

Chorus:
Get down your line
Get down your line
Get down your line
Get down your line
And you'll be just fine
Get down your line
And don't waste no time
Then you can give everyday that you live

Well, get yourself together
Don't ever mind the weather
Then you can help your neighbour
And help him with his labor
If you get yourself together
Then giving is so much pleasure
It makes your life a treasure
If you can do someone some good

Get down your line
Get down your line
Get down your line
Get down your line
And you'll be just fine
Get down your line
And don't waste no time
Then you can give everyday that you live

I'm just trying to think though right now what ole Louis would be singing though....

It is an inspirational song, but given the Bush Criminals, I'm having a hard time seeing those sky's of blue....

Not a 'song' this way ... but no "inspirational" collection would be complete without "Amazing Grace" on bagpipes, imho. It's the perfect finale.

23. Easy to be Hard (from Hair)
It reminds me not to neglect my family and friends when I get caught up in a cause.

How can people be so heartless
How can people be so cruel
Easy to be hard
Easy to be cold
How can people have no feelings
How can they ignore their friends
Easy to be proud
Easy to say no
And especially people
Who care about strangers
Who care about evil
And social injustice
Do you only
Care about the bleeding crowd?
How about a needing friend?
I need a friend
How can people be so heartless
You know I'm hung up on you
Easy to give in
Easy to help out
And especially people
Who care about strangers
Who say they care about social injustice
Do you only
Care about the bleeding crowd
How about a needing friend?
I need a friend
How can people have no feelings
How can they ignore their friends
Easy to be hard
Easy to be cold
Easy to be proud
Easy to say no
