JUDGMENT AND GUIDANCE []
Jpod:

Our own Roger Clegg noted last year that "Birth rates for unmarried women vary widely by race and Hispanic origin ... Among African Americans, 68.2 percent of births are illegitimate, versus 23.0 percent for non-Hispanic whites."

Meanwhile, so far as males are concerned, the Bureau of Justice reports that "At midyear 2004 there were 4,919 black male prison and jail inmates per 100,000 black males in the United States, compared to 1,717 Hispanic male inmates per 100,000 Hispanic males and 717 white male inmates per 100,000 white males."

Under the circumstances, to say, as Steve Sailer does, that African Americans "tend to possess poorer native judgment than members of better-educated groups," and "need stricter moral guidance from society" does not seem to me very outrageous.

Unless, that is, you believe that it is ill-mannered to talk about these things at all... in which case you had better take the matter up with Roger Clegg and the Bureau of Justice for their "shocking," "unspeakable," and "tasteless" breaches of etiquette.

WELL ... IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG

Yesterday on the show I predicted that by the end of the week someone was going to be calling for the victims of Hurricane Katrina to be paid massive amounts of money, just as were the families of the victims of 9/11. Well ... it didn't take long. And just who was it that stepped forward to demand the victims compensation fund? None other than the NAACP. Yup, NAACP president Bruce Gordon is saying that a compensation fund for the Katrina victims should be the first order of congress. By the way, the NAACP didn't call for a victim's compensation fund after any of the four hurricanes that devastated Florida year. Draw your own conclusions.

NYT: Devastating hurricane hits Gulf Coast; illegal aliens hardest hit
No, it's not a parody. With all the possible coverage of Katrina, the New York Times actually wrote an article on the plight of "undocumented" immigrants in the disaster zone.

From Ian Urbina's "Foreign Workers Are Caught in a Double Trap" (abbreviated version here):
BILOXI, Miss., Sept. 5 - Like so many other people here, Pedro, a landscaper from Chiapas, Mexico, is desperately trying to get out of Biloxi. He wants to take his wife, Anna, who is eight months pregnant, someplace cleaner and safer, wherever that might be. <Whereever it might be, it will probably be in the U.S. After all, he's just one month from an anchor baby, and why spoil that opportunity? -- LW>

Only a few minutes ago, I had the delightful opportunity to read the comment of a fellow who said he wished that white, middle-class, racist, conservative cocksuckers like myself could have been herded into the Superdome Concentration Camp to see how much we like it. Absent, of course, was the fundamental truth of what he plainly does not have the eyes or the imagination to see, namely, that if the Superdome had been filled with white, middle-class, racist, conservative cocksuckers like myself, it would not have been a refinery of horror, but rather a citadel of hope and order and restraint and compassion.

That has nothing to do with me being white. If the blacks and Hispanics and Jews and gays that I work with and associate with were there with me, it would have been that much better. That’s because the people I associate with – my Tribe – consists not of blacks and whites and gays and Hispanics and Asians, but of individuals who do not rape, murder, or steal. My Tribe consists of people who know that sometimes bad things happen, and that these are an opportunity to show ourselves what we are made of. My people go into burning buildings. My Tribe consists of organizers and self-starters, proud and self-reliant people who do not need to be told what to do in a crisis. My Tribe is not fearless; they are something better. They are courageous. My Tribe is honorable, and decent, and kind, and inventive. My Tribe knows how to give orders, and how to follow them. My Tribe knows enough about how the world works to figure out ways to boil water, ration food, repair structures, build and maintain makeshift latrines, and care for the wounded and the dead with respect and compassion.

There are some things my Tribe is not good at at all. My Tribe doesn’t make excuses. <============= :spray:

1. You should hear the callers into RW shows
Racist beyond belief. They are showing their colors now. Unafraid because their fearless leader and his family are leading the charge. Yesterday a caller into Rush, told him inregards to the 2000 dollar handouts that they will be buying crack and that those people have hit the jackpot.

10. That person sounds like my brother.
He lives in Florida, and he said that after Andrew hit, black people got alot of money to rebuild their houses, but bought new cars instead. Those words wouldn't have come out of his mouth a year ago; racists feel emboldened now because they have lots of support within the Republican party. It happened during Reagan's presidency, too. When Clinton was elected, they went back into the closet. The next time time they go into the closet, I hope somebody locks the door.

2. We discussed this at length yesterday here on DU
I can't link you to the post (it was mine) because it's archived and we're at level 3.

You are absolutely 100% correct, however. The closet bigots on the right, who have had to speak in "code" between themselves, now have carte blanche to spew the hate, as the victims of this tragedy have ben portrayed by the right as somehow at fault.

Their voices are clear - you can hear them right through the hoods.

3. I wonder if it's an unconscious last gasp thing
Like Bushism itself, a last grasp by the decadent ancien regime on its way down and out.

I hope that's what it is, anyway.

4. For example, here's one of the candidates for Minneapolis city council:
http://www.startribune.com/news/metro/elections/profiles/25634.html

Minneapolis is a very blue city, and most of the racial bigots have fled to the burbs, but occasionally we see some unreconstructed racists.

7. Whoa! That is over the top!
:wtf:

They put him on par with other candidates? No comment? I have seriously mixed feelings about that.

16. They don't comment on any of the candidates
He's not the only wacko--just the only overtly racist one.

8. Its always there - just bobbing beneath the surface. When wing nut
relatives came to visit the south side they threw the "n" word around like it was just an ordinary word. And these are college educated people.

I sprayed coffee while reading his profile. Who knew that there were still such crazies living in the cities. Thanks for the link. I need to study up for the Sept 14th primary. :hi:

5. I said this on another thread-I wonder if racism helps them feel better
Like maybe they watched the images on TV and they started to feel something in their cold dead hearts. Compassion for there fellow man. And we cant have that or else they would have to start wondering where was the help, aid, food and support for those people? It cant be possible that Bush Allmighty might have failed? So they let themselves think "Oh well they are only black people anyway".

9. Or they sense impending doom for Bushism because it failed
in a totally conspicuous way, and they're just expressing it, getting it all out before the party is over.

(I'm crossing my fingers.)

6. Save their butts at any costs
The Bush gang has decided to save their butts at any cost, even if it means polarizing this country even further and inciting race problems. I live in a very red area ( W TX ). I'm appalled at the comments I hear in public now. Before there was racism but you didn't hear such hateful comments made in public; checkout lines, restaurants, etc. To save their butts the Bush gang has dehumanized the victims. They would rather incite anger toward the victims than take responsibility for their inaction. One thing and only one thing matters, they remain in power. To hell with what is right for this country.

11. Sorry, this isn't breaking news
They've been out since Reagan gave them a voice and free pass. They aren't hiding behind code phrases anymore. :(

12. Maybe I should say *back* out.
It's a cyclic thing. It depends on whether or not the media ever do stories on black people. Usually they don't, but it was kind of difficult to ignore all the black people suffering in New Orleans last week, even if you were in the media.

15. I'm Seeing It More than Ever Right Now
and I'm stopping as much contact with these people as I can now that they have shown their true colors. I sort of handled their being Repugs but this I cannot handle.
