Just kidding.

UN hits back at US in report saying parts of America are as poor as Third World

It reveals that the infant mortality rate has been rising in the US for the past five years - and is now the same as Malaysia. America's black children are twice as likely as whites to die before their first birthday.

3. Hehe - sorry for the gag ...
... but the headline really makes sense - that is, in a literal sort of way. Like: "Pro-Life Action League condemns 'unnecessary' Iraq War" HA!

4. Bush and Repug Congress have raised infant mortalitiy as high as 1958.
Infant mortality was last this high in 1958. 47 years step backwards.

Your Republican tax cuts at work. And we still have huge deficits.

5. The "culture of life" doesn't give a damn about real live babies - just
fetuses.

The Fetus People - what a scourge on this country.

Yeah, I wonder when we'll see that. NEVAH, EVAH.

I sat in on a first-year med school class at the Catholic university where I work a couple weeks ago, and the topic at hand was health disparities in Washington, DC. The doc in charge showed the students (who for the most part are overprivileged white kids) that the infant mortality rate in DC's Ward 8 ranks with countries like Afghanistan, Thailand, and Somalia.

But what was the question several students asked: DOES THE INFANT MORTALITY RATE INCLUDE ABORTION?

Sigh. Another generation of doctors who wouldn't perform an emergency D&C if a woman was hemorraging to death on their operating room table.
