Inventor turns dead cats into diesel (Here kitty, kitty)
Edited on Wed Sep-14-05 02:17 PM by Ernesto
"He said the resulting "high quality bio-diesel" costs just 15 pence per litre.

Koch said the cadaver of a fully grown cat can produce 2.5 litres of fuel - meaning around 20 cats are needed for a full tank."

He said: "I tank my car with my own diesel mixture and have driven it for 105,000 miles without any problems."

19. 2/3
1 repug is at least 30 cats. It's probably even better, because they have a high fat content and fat has a lot of energy...

So you can drive 1,000 miles on one repug if you drive fuel efficient...

9. I didn't know Frist was an inventor too.
What's really strange to me is that people are figuring out how to make alternative fuels out of just about anything and we still drive gas guzzlers why?

I have never understood how someone can single out one species (or race for that matter) for hatred and abuse.

21. In most contexts I'd agree with you, but this is cats we're talking.
I don't hate cows and chickens, but I eat chicken embryos all the time and they are yummy, and we kill chickens and cows and actually feed them to cats a lot of the time.

This way, the cats will be able to give something back, instead of just take take take, scratch, hiss, bite, all the time.

23. I've not met any who do that unless they've been mishandled
or frightened by humans. Like I said, you've singled out a single species to hate. You're right. You didn't pick cows and chickens. You picked cats. Real scary, cats.

It must suck to live in fear like you do.

Then they came for the 'Dogs',

Then they came for the 'Senior Citizens',
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a 'Senior Citizen'.

Then they came for the Disabled,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't 'Disabled'.

Then they came for me —
and by that time no one was left to speak up."

It's a slippery slope, too easily taken.

can use to make bio-fuel (diesel, heating oil, gas-type) with that don't involve using a dead body of any animal. :grr: Good grief, what next humans? :grr: :puke:

27. Okay, sorry I'm not familiar w/the site & after being in animal rescue...
years ago and seeing some pretty nasty atrocities I put nothing past some. Because of this and being a animal lover (especially cats) I simply reacted and didn't check the source.

If it's a crappy source and a fake story good but I must admit that I hate that it may give some stupid jackass ideas... hopefully it won't.

15. But the article says that fuel can be made from a lot of other things...
"Dr Christian Koch, 55, from Kleinhartmannsdorf, said his method uses old tyres, weeds and animal cadavers."

I don't think I'd much mind running a hybrid car on crass clippings.

25. Now, it doesn't say he killed the cats just for this, does it?
Looks more like he used cats that were dead already, so perhaps the discomfort about "how many cats did he kill" or "this kills animals" may be unneccessary. One has to do something with the dead, after all. Admittedly, gassing up with Soylent Green has its own kind of weirdness, but based on a reading of the article, it doesn't sound like this guy's going to kill Fluffy for fuel.

If you want to make a really creepy sci-fi read on this, think about how much the average cat weighs. If it's about 15 cats to the average fit human and about 20 cats to the tank, with a little stretching and supersizing, you could spin a conspiracy to feed people cheap fattening food so that their bodies produce fuel at one person per tank of gas, and then round them up in FEMA Rex 84 relocation camps where they disappear and become processed into fuel. Throw in Odessa and Operation Paperclip and you'd have a really good, really bad movie!

Not even remotely. If it is someone explain it to me.

The only fuel I see coming from decomposing animal matter is the possibly combustible gases created as a byproduct of bacterial decomposition.

How does one create diesel from this???

"Dr Christian Koch, 55, from Kleinhartmannsdorf, said his method uses old tyres, weeds and animal cadavers.

They are heated up to 300 Celsius to filter out hydrocarbon which is then turned into diesel by a catalytic converter"

This doesn't even sound viable. So if one filters the hydrocarbon out of dead animal matter it because deisel??? I don't even partially buy it. Next thing you tell me the world was created in 6 days...

Sorry, but I smell something much worse than BS...I smell dead cat BS.
