Saw Carol Moseley Braun yesterday...
Edited on Sun Sep-25-05 11:47 PM by AmBlue
...at a luncheon. She gave a very impassioned speech about the current state of affairs and how women's voices are not adequately represented in the leadership of this country. She finished with this poem (for which she did not know the author) and I thought it was very moving:

One song can spark a moment
One flower can wake a dream
One tree can start a forest
One bird can herald spring
One smile begins a friendship
One handclasp lifts a soul
One star can guide a ship
One thought can frame a goal
One vote can change a nation
One sunbeam lights a room
One candle wipes out darkness
One laugh will conquer gloom
One step must start each journey
One word must start each prayer
One hope will raise our spirits
One touch can show you care
One voice can speak with wisdom
One heart can know what's true
One life can make a difference
One person just like you.

3. I know it.
The woman absolutely glows with passion and inspiration and wisdom. I was taking tickets at the check-in table for the event and before she went in, she came walking over to the table where we were sitting to greet us and tell us how much she appreciated all those that worked to make the event happen. What a beautiful lady!!!
