Questions about the freeper "war supporters" in DC (picture heavy!)
These pictures are from this website: http://www.toptechwriter.us/anti-war_protest/page_10.htm (link provided by another DUer, thank you).

Now to the questions:

Two people of military age: Why aren't they in uniform?

A dorky nebbish of military age: Why isn't he in uniform?

Two more "tough guys"of military age: Why aren't they in uniform?

Three more people of military age: Why aren't they in uniform? (They do take women these days, girls.)

Another tough guy: Why isn't he in uniform?

3. I am completely underwhelmed by their intelligent signs
"Hippies Smell!"

Yes, dork, and feet run. If your feet start to smell and your nose starts to run, you're upside down.

4. Redstone, you did a good job in this post.
Edited on Mon Sep-26-05 01:45 PM by FrankieBud
Thanks. The angry ones are always losers. The kids that are fighting this war are duped into thinking that military service will help them for their futures. Death, Injury or a lifetime of Psychological problems are their future.

5. And with modern medical technology, some of the wounded
will be left to live such cut-off, constantly painful lives, that they may end up wishing for the alternative. Actually, there will be MANY like this.

19. Very good point. Even a few years ago, the death toll would have been so
much higher.

The soldiers with physical injuries are much easier to count than those that return with mental/emotional problems.

Has anyone heard or read an estimate of how many OIF vets have been diagnosed with PTSD or another mental/emotional problem? Of course, may of them will never admit to having a problem. There is still too much of a stigma, particularly in the military.

7. That group kills me
"Protest WARRIORS". None of them would go within 10 miles of a recruiting station. I find it interesting that they call themselves warriors.

15. You want to know what kind of "warriors" they are?
Edited on Mon Sep-26-05 06:57 PM by Redstone
We had a meetup in Boston back in April, and they sneaked into the bar where we were all meeting, left some absurdly amateurish fliers on the tables, then sneaked back out before any of us got there.

Some warriors.

Edited for spelling.

WTF has communism got to do with any of this? Either these people are seriously confused or are satirists and not telling anyone.

11. Any recruiters at this "rally"?
I remember that DUers suggested that military recruiters be urged to attend the pro-war rally in Crawford, the young Republicans convention, etc. Does anybody know if there were any recruiters at these events? Or, are they smart enough to know that these are the just more chickenhawks? Still, it would be great to embarrass them.

12. If this was the rally at the National Mall yesterday.......
I was doing the museums and stopped by.

Nope, no recruiters there :)

But if I were to compare it to anything, it would be a KKK rally, so understand why recruiters would pass on that crowd <snork>

13. Protestwarrioridjits...
Edited on Mon Sep-26-05 03:04 PM by EstimatedProphet
So we were driving to the march Friday when this protestwarrioridjit car comes flying onto the highway and swerving around...he got close to us, and I flipped him off and drove on.

He spent the next 2 miles trying to harass me, chasing me down and finally got in front, then steps on his brakes to mess with me, all the time waving at me and making faces.

Guess I learned my lesson, huh? I'll never confront them again! :sarcasm:

16. How did you know he was a "protestwarrioridjit?"
Did he have bumper stickers, or did he radiate that field of ineffable dumbness that you can almost see if you squint a little, that envelopes those dopes like a bum's BO?

Funny how you can sense them coming from a great distance...

18. Well, they don't know much about the Marines.
My husband is Army, but I am pretty sure that the Marines say Hoo-Ahh (not sure how you would spell that) and not oohrah like the stupid blond girl holding up the "Marines are my heroes" sign with that written on it. One of our Marines can correct me if I am wrong.

Another stupid blond girl (no offense to any intelligent blond women)has a t-shirt on that says "property of a marine." I think that pretty much sums it up, she is as brainwashed as the jar-head that owns her. (again, no offense to any intelligent Marines).

I am no-one's property.

21. Consider this statistic
(from last Friday's (September 23rd) Atlanta Constitution) 53% of those of age for military service do not meet the minimum education or physical requirements. Which I consider unbelievable. And a major failure on the part of people of my generation (over 40). We've failed our youth. If 53% can't pass the minimum requirements for the military....we're not doing our job.
Budget cuts mean very little physical education in the public schools. In my little hometown in central Illinois we had PE every day. Grade school through high school. Not counting our extra-curricular sports. Even non-athletic kids were more fit than our kids now.
And education? I don't know about the other branches of the military, but the Marines (my son is a Marine) require a high school education. (when my son enlisted, over two years ago, no GEDs were accepted -- that may have changed). But, still. That shouldn't be asking too much.
So. The blowhards showing up at the pro-war rallies could be suffering from "old football injuries" (like Rush...). Just don't look for their photos on the football team in the yearbook. Or maybe they didn't finish high school.
Or they're just like Bush. All hat and no cattle.
They're like our young Republican friend who so famously stated he was "fighting the war over here."
My son (back from his second tour in Iraq) finds that very amusing.
