Davis: "Most Unpopular Political Figure in Modern State History"
According to Dan Rather, CBS just now.

"California voters will decide the fate of the most unpopular figure in modern state history, Gray Davis."

Bias, anyone?

1. Definetely biased
Hopefully the legislature will find a loophole to keep Davis in power, and boot the shit out of Ahhnold if he happens to win tonight's elections.

That will shut the media up for sure.

Fairness Doctrine must be re-enacted and signed into an constitutional amendment.

He selected his own opponent
...and still only got 48% of the vote in a state that is 60% Democrat.

If he went up against Riordan he would have lost badly. And that was even before the lies about the budget came out...

What if Rather had said this:

California voters will decide the fate of the most unpopular elected figure in modern state history, Gray Davis."

Would you agree that was true?

There's a poll -- go to

http://www.cnn.com/lou

and you can vote that their coverage is biased toward Republicans!

Added on Edit:

76% say it is biased pro-GOP

14% say it biased pro-Dem

10% say it is unbiased

Send them an e-mail, too, and tell them how pro-GOP they have been.

The entire California media bashes Davis every day for years!

Imagine how popular Arnold would be if the media treated him like they treat Davis.

The media hates Davis and loves Arnold.

14. Also, anyone notice this?
In a lot of the news coverage of this, if you watch the recall stories, you will always see a stock video of someone voting for Schwartzenegger on a touch-screen. ALWAYS Schwartzenegger. EVERY time.

17. Let's face the facts
Davis is very unpopular and if this were not true, he would not be facing the recall. The media did not destroy Davis. He is a very unpopular politician and will not be governor by tomorrow. It's too bad DiFi did't have the forsight to jump into this race to save the state.

18. Davis didn't become this unpopular by coincidence
At least not this unpopular. His approval ratings are as low as Nixon's at the time he resigned.

Does California have serious budget problems? Sure. But so do other states. So does the federal government. But is there any other governor in this country with approval ratings in the low 20's? I don't think anybody even comes close to Davis.

And the fact is, most of the things for which is blamed were beyond his control. Is it his fault that the Republicans in the legislature refused to vote for a budget that contained any tax increase, thereby forcing deep spending cuts? Is it his fault that Wilson pushed through a deeply flawed energy deregulation plan? Is it his fault that ENRON and other companies ripped California off? Is it his fault that Bush's appointees as the FERC refused to help?

I think Davis was deliberately targeted by right wing groups. They wanted to see whether it was possible to destroy a Democratic politician in a strongly Democratic state. Because if they could do that, they could destroy ANY Democratic politician. And they've succeeded beyond all expectations. Hell, they've got around a third of DEMOCRATS saying good riddance to Davis. I'm sure they've got their next target lined up (most likely Jim McGreevy in New Jersey).

22. Even BBC America's coverage focused on Ah-nold, with

some footage and mention of Davis. I'd say they expect Ah-nold to win.
