Poll question: Is hoarding an acceptable practice?
Normally, I believe it isn't because it deprives others who might need whatever it is, such as gas or food, worse than those who do the hoarding.

I am curious about what others think about this and if they would hoard items such as food or gas, for example.

1. Not if it's compulsive and/or out of control.
However, depending on what is being horded and in what quantity, it can be a good thing.

Right on
Clinical hoarding as I understand it has no real benefit. Now, there might come a time when you have to store some things away to take care of your and yours first, then other people secondarily. That's a whole different ball of wax.

with every intention of sharing it with those who are not doing the same when the time of need arrives.

3. I voted no
Because hoarding is taking more than you need and not leaving any for others. Hoarders usually don't use all of what they have hoarded, so what's the point?

5. Sure it's acceptable...
You go to the same Publix or Wal-Mart as everyone else, stock up on the same water and canned food as them. Everyone has the same opportunity to stock up.

But once the shit hits the fan, if you sit on piles of water while your neighbors die of thirst, you're a scumbag, and you almost definitely vote Republican.

So, there's some gray area

6. Depends on when it is done
If, when things are normal, you store supplies you will need in the event of an emergency, then that is fine.

If, when a disaster strikes, you rush to the store and buy everthing you can, I don't support your actions.

In the first case, the supplies you set aside didn't reduce what was available to others, since you were doing it when there wasn't great demand. That isn't true in the second case.
