14. I thought the one W saw was only 1 1/2 pages
which was remarked upon by many former intel types.

Did I remember that wrong or was the original 10 to 12 pages as you posted but it was whittled down for W?

On Aug. 6, 2001, Bush's daily intelligence briefing said al-Qaeda might hijack airplanes. Did the White House consider the possibility that planes would be used as weapons?

On May 16, 2002, Rice told reporters that there was no specific information in that 2001 briefing and that officials could not have imagined al-Qaeda was plotting suicide missions that involved flying planes into buildings.

"I don't think that anybody could have predicted that these people would take an airplane and slam it into the World Trade Center, take another one and slam it into the Pentagon, that they would try to use an airplane as a missile," she said. Some 9/11 family members have called that disingenuous and suggested that the administration either didn't take the threats seriously or that Rice and others were trying to protect themselves by saying no one could have imagined such attacks.

But Sean McCormack, a Rice spokesman, said she was told about the 2001 briefing after she made the comments to reporters.

39. Got it!

And now I got it. Source was Bob Woodward, and i find it from german "Zeit" magazine autor Oliver Schröm. He maintains the original briefing was 11 pages, and we have no reason for doubt, because the title was correct, and he couldn't know the titel at that time...

Source - interview with Oliver Schröm in german...

Everyone is assuming that the Bush administration meekly complied with the outcry coming from both sides of the aisle in Congress, declassifying and releasing the Presidential Daily Briefing (PDB) for August 6, 2001, with uncharacteristic speed. I did wonder about that, but now it turns out they weren't so forthcoming after all.

The text of the PDB released by the White House is one and a half pages long. But, according to an article by intelligence expert Oliver Schröm, the original document was much longer:

"Crawford, August 6, 2001. George W. Bush is on vacation. He wanted to spend the whole month at his ranch in Texas. 'The Presidential Daily Brief' was part of his morning routine. In the PDB, as it's called in CIA jargon, a senior CIA official presents the President with a summary of the security situation. On this morning the CIA Director personally briefs the President. Instead of the usual two or three pages, today's briefing paper consists of eleven and a half printed pages and carries the title 'Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.'"

Schröm's article, entitled "Deadly Mistakes," was published in Die Zeit, a respected German weekly, on October 2, 2002: go here for the original German. The piece is structured like a chronology, recounting, in excruciatingly painful detail, the mishaps, bureaucratic hurdles, and squandered opportunities that stood in the way of foiling the 9/11 terror plot. Key dates are highlighted, and August 6 was significant in that, apparently for the first time, awareness of the threat posed by Al Qaeda had percolated up to the Oval Office:

"The CIA chief argued that Al Qaeda was now also attempting to carry out attacks inside the US, and there were probably already members of the terror organization located in the US for some time. It's not clear whether or not the CIA Director told the President about statements made by Al Qaeda members who were already in custody. According to their statements, the terror organization had long thought about hijacking airplanes in order to use them as missiles."

Her nomination is all part of the much bigger plan - a plan that's been in motion for years. She will sit on the SC to protect Bush (and cohorts) from possible future charges. By being his personal counsel, she can claim attorney/client privilege and will never ever have to answer questions about the underhanded goings-on in the WH.

This is a woman who claims Bush is "the most intelligent man I've ever met".

No one. She will be a SC justice - the WH and Congress will not force her. After her confirmation, all 3 branches will be controlled by repugs.

White House: Repub
Senate: Repub majority

Supreme Court: Repub majority

In fact, the two Justices being replaced -- Rehnquist and O'Connor, were both repubs, and they both helped install chimpy as president, so I'm having trouble seeing your point.

34. OConnor may have been a Repug
but she was moderate and a very important swing vote on many cases. There was at least some semblance of balance on the SC (sans 2000) until now, where it'll be run by fundamentalist extremists.

44. May not be a wedding ring. Might be family heirloom jewelry.
If she's right-hand dominant, those fingers are probably larger than on the left hand. So, if a ring doesn't fit on the right hand, it still might fit on the left.

Can't really tell for sure what kind of ring it is, but honestly, it doesn't matter. Maybe she gave herself to Jesus and wears some kind of ring or did wear some kind of ring to commemorate that.

What concerns me is she was part of the 8/6/01 PDB group. She also says bush is "brilliant." She is complicit in the 9/11/01 criminal negligence coverup.

23. One of the arguments that is being advanced in her favor
Against nay-saying Conservatives is that she has had a front row seat on the Global War on Terror. Slingshot compiled some of these arguments -- > http://www.slingshot.org/?p=134

I guess she has.

The one thing the Bush adminstration can count on with her on the bench is that every case involving the war on terror, she'll vote with the Adminsistration.

A picture of Harriet Miers briefing the President on August 6, 2001, the same day as the Bin Laden memo...

And this is unbelievable how? Her job was to be the gatekeeper of all documents that got to the President. Everything went through her. I'm sure she has the highest possible security clearance for that job.

So why is this a big deal?
