Anybody read this LTTE in the Washington Post today?
I found this painfully funny:

This Letter Is Brought to You by . . .

Friday, October 7, 2005; Page A22
I read with amusement the Oct. 1 letter that suggested the government offer naming rights to corporations and individuals for federal buildings and military installations.

I think we should go further. Let's take a cue from the sports world, especially NASCAR drivers, and require all elected officials to wear the logos of their corporate sponsors on their suits while conducting official business. We might limit the number of logos to, say, the top 20 sponsors, because most elected officials would not have the physical bulk to accommodate all their contributors. This would go for members of Congress and the president as well.

And why not offer naming rights to the local, state and national elections, too? We could have the Shell Virginia Primary and the Halliburton Race for the Presidency. We could also include official proceedings: the Enron State of the Union Address, the Citibank Confirmation Hearings.

Of course, I have no illusion that any legislative body will ever vote to brand itself so patently, because that would be a public acknowledgment of the corrupt nature of how we govern ourselves.

3. What a great idea!
I love it. It would be pretty hard to look righteous as you're fighting for the energy bill with all those Exxon, Halliburton, etc. logos covering your torso
