Timothy Flanigan (Fitzgerald's Bush crony boss to be) withdraws!
Edited on Fri Oct-07-05 08:34 PM by kohodog
Due to ties with Abramoff, though his official reason is "uncertainty concerning the timing of my confirmation."

He is the guy many here were worried would derail the Plame investigation. While that couldn't have happened on technical grounds, people will rest easier knowing that fitzgerald will have all the time he needs to make his case ironclad.

6. Maybe this is what is making them break.
They thought they had the fix in and then the Abramoff DeLay case screwed up all their calculations.

11. I've been hearing nasty things about Timothy Flanigan for awhile now...
like he's the guy that invented "water-boarding", a horrible form of torture where the recipient is led to believe they will drown.

And the hardest part for me....

my name is Timothy Flanagan.

What are the odds that YOUR name is the same as the inventor of hideous torture forms.

It has had me bummed out for several months that this guy is carrying my name around.

15. The good news for you...
that was as a kid.

Unfortunately, my name is not going away anytime soon.

On the good side, now that he's withdrawn his nomination, less people will know who he is.

24. I blame CheneyBush for the torture.
And the asshole wants to veto the senate bill with the anti-torture amendment. Of course that will defund the Iraq war which would be a good thing.

But this doen't feel like America anymore.

Stand tall and reclaim your name. Fuck the bastards.

And be very happy no one could call you , icky vicky. ugh!!:P

Glad you got over it Tim, names can really get us freaked out more than we think.

18. My girlfriend thought it was funny...
at least at first she did.

But she realized I was pretty upset about sharing a name with such a horrible man.

I've got an Irish temper. But the thought of devising torture techniques. What kind of sick bastard stays awake at night thinking of new ways to make people suffer. :(

26. It's sad to imagine what drove someone's mind
to that point also? But what goes around comes around, so he most likely learned some hard lessons. I hope. Karma.

Has anyone ever actually known this and thrown it at you? If so rotten prick. I have one of those Irish tempers too:nuke: and nothing pisses me off more than cruelty.:grr:

My Mom shares a birthday with Manson and doesn't like anyone to know. I don't blame her. Can you imagine the embarrassment of the Dalai Lama sharing a birthday with *! A great, wise and compassionate mind and no mind.

Oh, I know at least a couple sick bastards that must lay awake thinking of ways to torture people. They're in * cabinet and employ. And * buddy in Uzbekistan, the one that boils people. What a bunch. Great fun at parties I'm sure. :sarcasm:

27. No one has used my name in that manner yet...
but Mr. Flanigan is still pretty obscure to most people that aren't up on politics.

So I guess this comes as good news really. Just that more of a chance that the majority of the country will never know who this guy is.

and my nicknames are numerous.

Flanny
Flanagan again
Shenannigans
Flanny-pants

They don't bother me as much as sharing a name with fuck-face.

28. My Dad called me Cosmo,
from the time I was 6 until he died last year. I swear he didn't know my name. I hated it. Now I actually miss it, rather him.

My poor daughter's name is Leah> She got : Leareatard, Leah Diarrhea and numerous other ignorant names.

I always call people by their given name if they allow me to. It just seems right if they like their name. It's a sign of respect to me.

Enjoyed the discourse Tim.

Peace to you!

22. Yes, but whoever it is will need to be nominated and confirmed by the
Senate. Not likely to happen too soon with all the shit going down, unless, of course, Bush appoints him on Ground Hog Day as a recess appointment.

21. So pretend I'm Clark Gable and I'm offered the lead in Gone With The Wind
{which by the way was the hottest role of the century back then)...and I say..."No, because there is uncertainty concerning the timing of...blah blah blah."

Something very big is on the horizon. I can't imagine any other reason why Flanigan would relinquish, especially if he could be the hero saving junior's ass.
