Not a lot of anti-Harriet Miers threads here?
There doesn't seem to be as many about her as there was with John Roberts. Is there a reason behind that? As far as I can tell, Harriet Miers is more conservative than John Roberts and was appointed only because she used to be the president's personal lawyer. Isn't she...a lot worse than John Roberts?

2. Neither of them are "conservative" - they're corrupt corporatist cronies.
Fortunately, we're not the only ones who see that this time around.

3. Look a few days back, when she was nominated.

I think most of them have dropped off the first page and into the archives. There was a very good one by Skinner where people collected most of the info we have on her. There are several scandals and connections to stuff that, of course, the "media" have only touched on.

She's Bush's gal, basically. Big surprise. NOT.

Edited to add: Here's Skinner's thread, and it's still alive too.

8. Given the conservative response to her nomination...
... any anti-Miers sentiment by us would be redundant. So why not focus our energies elsewhere?

9. I couldn't be happier with her nomination.
She's an embarassment to the administration. The RW is tearing her to shreds--not least because they think she's one of us. So let them think she's one of us right now. And then, if it comes to a vote, tear her to pieces on her qualifications and cronyism. But right now, let's just work on splitting the base by making her look moderate.

And then, with a few twists, turn "moderate" into "vapid" during the confirmations.

11. Who knows what she's all about?
I think * wants her on the court to protect him and his other cronies. She's a * loyalist above all else. Might as well have nominated Karen Hughes.

12. Somehow I can't but think that Harriet Miers is a sacrificial goat.
And they have cleaned up some behind the scenes rightwingnut to be squeaky clean, for her replacement.
