Why is the press saying that Arnold had a positive message?
I've seen more than a few articles that have claimed that voters responded to Arnold's positive message, whereas the Democrat's slash and burn tactics failed miserably?

What exactly was Arnold's positive message? If I'm not mistaken, Arnold's message, boiled down to it's essence, was: Gray Davis is an incompetent, arrogant assh*le and we should kick that craven and corrupt bastard out of Sacramento. So vote for me. Not because I have any specific plans to get us out of this mess, but because I'm rich, successful and married to a Kennedy.

Am I missing something?

1. because that's the RNC strategy
If you listen to any talking head this week, you'll hear him/her say that voters responded to the positive message and that Democrats are having trouble with voters because of their anger and negativity. This is being pounded every hour of every day.

The strategic result? It's more difficult for anyone to criticize Gopers without being written off as "angry" for political reasons.

2. not missing anything, the media kiss his nazi ass
simple as that

if you saw the debate, you see NOTHING positive about his message, such as it was.

the only chance he had was due to:

1- this was not a normal election, but one that by definition is based on attacking the current gov

2- he only had to campaign for 2 months! He'd never last a full cyle

IMHO

:grr:

3. Because if they stop spinning him, he'll fall over
The guy's going to be incompetent and he's going to rape the middle and working class, but they're going to need him to get Bush California. So, what you saw during the campaign is just a tast of the shit they're going to make you swallow for at least the next 13 months.

4. Becasue they can't say that...
...he had no message at all?

Either that or they couldn't understand him and assume that, since he got elected, he must have had one.

6. Because he's smiling nicely . . .
. . . and saying nothing of substance, just like he's been doing for the last two months. This allows each member of his audience to read whatever comes to mind into it.
