“Embedded Crony”: Bob Woodward Shows His True Colors - eewwwwwww
RJ Eskow

Bob Woodward showed last night why he is the role model for a generation of morally compromised 'journalists.' He aggressively promoted his patrons' interests and, Judy-like, selectively cited government secrets. His entire career as the author of dubious political fanfic led to this moment, and it was a revealing one.

On Larry King Thursday he put in a fiercely partisan performance on behalf of the Administration that's provided content for his last two best-sellers, taking on any panelist who deviated from GOP spin (transcript).

He cited highly classified information, which raises a number of disturbing questions - including who gave it to him and why. He also said, "I'm trying to do a book on the Bush second term. " Bob, it shows.

snip

Woodward began his performance Thursday by backstopping the Administration on the Harriet Miers nomination, and not-so-subtly echoing conservative contempt for federal judges. He then parroted spin as fact from the get-go when the Libby case came up, saying:

First of all this began not as somebody launching a smear campaign ... I'm quite confident we're going to find out that it started as a kind of gossip, as chatter and that somebody learned (Plame) had worked at the CIA and helped him get this job ...

1. Didn't Woodward go all born-again in past years?
I swear I'd read that somewhere, he got strange and crotchedy in his old age and felt close to Bush through his faith or something?

8. I don't know, but if it's true it would help explain why his brain
has seemingly turned to mush and why he doesn't seem to care much for the truth.

4. I was watching Larry King at the time, and couldn't believe...
what I was hearing, even from Woodward. Maybe it was my imagination, but the rest of the panel, including Larry, seemed a little embarrassed for him. Or as if they were thinking, "Whatever...."

10. Ol' Bob's trying to cash in on the Conservative book-buying frenzy
Edited on Sat Oct-29-05 12:29 PM by bucknaked
We all know that most of idiots can't think for themselves, and yearn for argumentative talking points, hence, the popularity of Limbaugh, Hannity and any one of your generic Conservative pundits.

They need their marching orders. Otherwise, all they know is that they're supposed to yell "blame America firsters (my not-so-far-off attempt at a Bushism)" and shake their fists at actual civil rights issues, minority causes and "damn liberals (a pejorative, in their lexicon... as if any of their simpleton-base knows what a "lexicon" is)".

Woodward knows this, and realizes the lucrative market that right-wing stupidity has conceived. And, I believe he's simply trying to get 'sum in a subtle way, by portraying a "non-biased" yet, positive view of the admin. Fully knowing that those nutjobs will eat it up and scream "see, even Woodward says..."
