W & Bush-Cheney stickers have almost completely disappeared from vehicles
in the very red, conservative and wealthy Georgia county where I work.

I was driving through the parking lot of the biggest local shopping center yesterday. Usually each SUV, giant pickup truck , expensive luxury sedan and sports car has at least one Bush or W sticker along with the required red, white and blue or yellow ribbon magnet. Many of the big trucks sported the green and yellow "Bush-Cheney Farm and Ranch Team" stickers as well.

I was shocked to not see one W04 or Bush sticker anywhere. The various ribbon magnets were still in evidence. Just last month I noticed that the number of stickers was declining . I wonder if the local Republican and fundamentalist sheeple are slowly waking up to the fact that Bu$hco* is ruining the country and the economy and basically screwing them?

Has anyone else noticed this trend?

1. Drive through your neighborhoods and note the addresses...
...where any vehicles still have bushleague bumper stickers. These people will be the "informants" if slash when martial law is delcared.

5. holy moly! What a thought!
Now, what about those black W's? Are those Bush stickers too, or some college or something?

I don't see many election stickers anymore, but I see a bunch of those W's.

36. The black, square stickers are the "W the President" stickers.
They are Bush stickers and are very popular with the college crowd. Even those are disappearing though. I see more and more black, square "F the President" stickers though! I have one. I also like the "M the Moron" sticker too! Hee hee!

22. There are no elections this year in my area therefore no new stickers.
The various local and state candidates have not come out with stickers for the 2006 and 2008 elections.

I must say that the number of F the Pesident stickers are on the rise! I've got one to go with my DU bumper sticker!

Or putting the latest edition Bushco bumper sticker on their new hulk of metal and plastic?

I haven't seen a W sticker in at least 6 months, but I live in decidedly mixed San Diego (city is almost blue but surrounding county is deep red)

12. I live in Athens-Clarke County but I work in another county.
I live in a blue doughnut hole in the middle of a big, red doughnut known as Northeast Georgia.

A good number of the UGA frat boys still have those black W the president stickers but there are very few, if any, Bush-Cheney 04 or W04 stickers left on the vehicles of non-students and the wealthy.

The ribbon magnets that remain are all sun bleached and dirty.

The county where I work is mega-Republican. I've met Gov. Sonny Perdue here (and told him I'd never vote for him or any Republican!) There are lots of wealthy conservative assholes who bankroll local, state and federal Republican candidates.

I was really surprised yesterday.

How is the weather in San Diego? I've never been there but it looks beautiful!

25. Well San Diego is famous for its mild temperatures year round, however
they don't talk about the high humidity near the coast, the high fire danger every summer and fall, the threat of earthquakes, and the sky-high cost of living here (median home price $525,000, gas $3.00 gal). What did Gov. Perdue say when you said you would never vote for him or any Republican?

Edited on Wed Nov-02-05 11:21 AM by CottonBear
And I thought "Yeah, like Lester Maddox and Gov. Talmadge." I replied "Good luck with your campaign." and proceeded through the BBQ line (It was a classic Southern BBQ political event.)

Did you know Perdue got a DVM at the UGA vet school and that Lester Crawford (former FDA director) got his PhD there and worked there? My good friend was Perdue's vet school microbiology professor. He recently met with Perdue to discuss water quality issues and Perdue didn't even remember him.

Median home price $525,000 dollars! OMG! I could buy 20 or 30 acres of land with a really nice house for that much in my area!

my dear BF has a tiny 2-br condo in the Santa Barbara area that is currently worth $640,000. Granted, he is 1 mile from the beach, but still..........................

And his mom's 1970s suburban tract home nearby (4-br, 1 3/4 ba, NOT a big home, no den or separate dining room, tiny lot) is currently worth over a million.

My 2 BR, 1.5 bath condominium townhome with a DR, LR, K and lots of closet space and an enclosed terrace garden in a very nice neighborhood was purchased for $52,000 about 8 years ago and is now valued at $97,000.

Two of my good friends moved back to the south from LA and NYC so that they could buy homes.

The prices in California are unfuckingbelievable. :eyes:

48. They said on the radio today the here in SoCal (or LA County?)
the median income is $52,000, but to buy a median-priced home you need an income of $150,000. So most of us cannot afford to buy. The bubble is being driven by wealthy folks buying up homes and renting them at exhorbitant rates to us peons who can't afford to buy. Rents are so high, no normal person can save up for a down payment. I am a veterinarian, and in the permanent renter class here.

The rich are definitely getting richer here.

Are you in private practice or do you work in academia?
Edited on Wed Nov-02-05 12:08 PM by CottonBear
My good friend recently retired from the UGA vet school. He was in the medical microbiology department. I'm learning lots about caring for my horse from him as well as all about how vaccines are developed and how they work. Fascinating stuff! He owns the farm where I keep my filly and he and his wife bred her as well! I'm lucky to have expert advice at hand! I'm tending to a nasty cat abscess now and he is advising me on the treatment. :(

I really admire veterinarians. It is hard to deal with a sick pet and with the owner! You must have a difficult but rewarding job. :)

the Boston area - i think those that were stupid/brave enough to put them on their cars during the 04 election have sheepishly removed them under cover of night in the 4-car garages of their McMansions out in Weston. Still see those damn ribbons though. Have thought about putting enlistment paper copies under the windshields of those cars in parking lots with the Support our Troops ribbons but have not yet done so......

13. I have to look at w**s face everyday on a license plate across the street
The woman works in our church office across the street from my house. I have had to look at his face on her front license plate everyday for well over a year. She also has the creepy w the pResident sticker and a bush/cheney 04 sicker on the back! She is a seriously deranged bushbot.

On the upside, as I was taking my walk this morning I did notice a freeper SUV that I pass frequently was missing its' w04 sticker! :)

The city where I live. They are still on cars/trucks here...it is so depressing as it is a constant reminder of the danger my nephew is in because he signed up for non active duty with the guard back after 911 and now finds himself in Iraq running fuel, ammo/guns and whatever else they need to various bases. :-( These kids need to come home NOW!!

17. Easier to put on a sticker than take it off.
Easier to make a mistake than admit it, even just to one's self.

Besides, the true Bushbot considers admitting a mistake a sign of weakness. Better to leave the mistake on the bumper.

The back of the car was dirty but you could see clean places where five magnetic ribbons and one rectangular sticker had just been removed. The owner had left a veterans' organization sticker in place.

This was a person who stuck with Bush through EVERYTHING up until now. I wonder if it was the Libby indictment, or the DeLay judge shopping, or the 2000 deaths in Iraq, or another incredibly horrendous chapter in the Bush Administration.

What surprised me yesterday on my wonderful commute from work was seeing a bumpersticker that read "Remember Terry" and some other one saying something disparaging about liberals. But I guess the one that read "Remember Terry" could be taken a number of different ways, including remembering how the GOP used her as political fodder. Yeah, I'll always remember that.

64. why would you support a president who is finished as a leader of the
free world? Who is a laughingstock? Who can't give you a decent reason for the deaths of thousands of soldiers? Who can't take the helm in a time of crisis and save hundreds from death due to forces of nature. Why?

66. Less of them here, too
I'm over in Alpharetta, and there is a major decline in the W stickers of all types from the campaign stickers to the black cube "W The President" and my personal favorite "W Still the President."

I knew things must have been going downhill for them when the soccermoms who are at the park with their little kids each day suddenly their car ribbons and W stickers were disappearing.

It really makes me laugh. I'm a stay/work at home dad of twins and going around town is usually a trip during the day. It amazes me to see the moms and the small tanks (I do want to point out that I'm not insanely anti-SUV or truck, as some have become rather militant around here-- I own a business and need a truck or SUV for my cargo.) that they drive with the GOP propaganda stickers on them. All the while, I see these types with their little kids running around in stores, the park, etc with them neglecting to watch over them, and paying more attention to the cell phone than the kids.

69. "W Still the President" is my personal fave as well. It's so desperate!

Like we don't know he's the president or maybe they're worried about impeachment and resignation.

Welcome to DU stoplightcat! :hi:

Please be sure to visit the Georgia Forum. We ocassionally have DU meetups in the Atlanta area and will announce them there.

BTW, I have a (mid-size) truck too. I need it for horse purposes. :)

67. Yes
My area I used to see quite a lot of W stickers and Bush/Cheney one's. I still see them but not quite so much. I've seen more anti stickers than anything. I've seen Kerry/Edwards and "Blame Bush" and "I don't have to like Bush to love my country" and "When Clinton lied nobody died".

68. I gave the finger to some prick who had a "Bush" war criminal
sticker on his car. He slowed down because he couldn't figure out why I was driving behind him with my middle finger up. I pointed emphatically at his bumper and then waved the middle finger at him again. I was also mouthing the words "FUCKING MURDERER" repeatedly. Bush people are lying murderers and they should be made aware of their malfeasance when possible.
