A Profoundly Misguided (And Misleading) Analysis Of Bush's Travails
Last Saturday (10/29), the AP's Ron Fournier served up some good old-fashioned Associated Pre$$titution, pushing tired storylines about Kerry and Bush.

Now he gives us a classic example of how a trusted mainstream reporter perpetuates fabricated pro-Bush narratives.

"Bush built an image as a straight-talking politician as governor of Texas and a candidate for president. Running to replace the Clinton administration in 2000, he raised his right hand at nearly every campaign event and swore to uphold the dignity and honor of the presidency."

Anyone want to guess what's missing from that paragraph?

Here's our version:

"Bush, with the enthusiastic assistance of a supplicant media, built an image as a so-called 'straight-talking' politician as governor of Texas and a candidate for president. Running to replace the Clinton administration in 2000, he raised his right hand at nearly every campaign event and swore to uphold the dignity and honor of the presidency, a farce that was never questioned by reporters who were too busy ripping Al Gore a new one."

Fournier then has the nerve to write this:

"The case cuts at the president's hard-earned credibility."

Hard-earned credibility??

If by "hard-earned" you mean constantly pushing reporters' heads out of your ass.
