I took my granddaughter to her pediatrician today for a recheck following an illness and to also get a flu shot. I called yesterday and they said they had plenty of vaccine.
It is the largest pediatric practice in Northeast Texas.
While sitting in the waiting room, I was talking to a parent that had a child about my granddaughters age. She asked why we were there and I told her. She said they told her they didn't have any flu vaccine.
Well it turned out that they HAD private flu vaccine for kids who had insurance or whose parents were willing to pay $20 for it.
It appears that the state didn't send "enough" flu vaccine for their Medicaid kids (even though this particular practice has a high number of kids on Medicaid) and Medicaid won't reimburse the physician's for using private vaccine.
I absolutely don't blame the doctor. He has to pay for the vaccine but when I asked him he said the state KNEW they didn't send enough because he ordered a dose for each child on Medicaid (this included 4 docs and 2 nurse practitioners patients) and only received about 20% of his order. He said he is supposed to get more, but he wasn't holding his breath.
I think this is horrible. These fuckers absolutely do not care about sick kids.
They cut our their free lunches and now they are deliberately shortchanging their vaccine. There is a special place in hell for these shitstains.:mad:
