War without end: A revisionist's history
Surfing around the web today (it was FR actually) and found a link to this piece of trash. I don't have any comments, but I figured someone else might, so I'm linking to the article:

"Crusading ideals in the West were an answer to the greater threat of jihad. They were spurred by fear and necessity in a desperate competition with Islam that, for many centuries, Christians lost—and were aware that they were losing."

Wow!

Read the rest, if you dare!

1. Fascinating article
I've always been interested in history (it was my minor) but I know so little of this time period. It seems the interaction between the Muslim and Christian world has long been violent and unhappy. And the result tainted both faiths.

I must see if I can find a book or two on this - it looks like history repeats itself again.........

2. You'd think we would have learned something from it.
But no, we're at it again.

3. Crisis is a reactionary traditionalist Catholic publication
I got on their email list for fun and I get appaled the crap they send me. It is another segment of the fundie Protastantism just tweaked for a Catholic audience (which this magazine gives a very narrow definition (e.g. 100% "Orthodox" or nothing)).

4. Yes, I figured it was a religious publication
didn't stop me from laughing/cringing at some of the "revisionist history" in the article, which is a very nice way of saying that it is a bunch of BS :D
