"Please don't kill me" Bush whimpers, his lips pursed in mock desperation

From: "Devil May Care" by Tucker Carlson, Talk Magazine, September 1999, p. 106

"Bush's brand of forthright tough-guy populism can be appealing, and it has played well in Texas. Yet occasionally there are flashes of meanness visible beneath it.

While driving back from the speech later that day, Bush mentions Karla Faye Tucker, a double murderer who was executed in Texas last year. In the weeks before the execution, Bush says, Bianca Jagger and a number of other protesters came to Austin to demand clemency for Tucker. 'Did you meet with any of them?' I ask.

Bush whips around and stares at me. 'No, I didn't meet with any of them,' he snaps, as though I've just asked the dumbest, most offensive question ever posed. 'I didn't meet with Larry King either when he came down for it. I watched his interview with , though. He asked her real difficult questions, like 'What would you say to Governor Bush?' 'What was her answer?' I wonder.

'Please,' Bush whimpers, his lips pursed in mock desperation, 'don't kill me.'

I must look shocked -- ridiculing the pleas of a condemned prisoner who has since been executed seems odd and cruel, even for someone as militantly anticrime as Bush -- because he immediately stops smirking.

'It's tough stuff,' Bush says, suddenly somber, 'but my job is to enforce the law.' As it turns out, the Larry King-Karla Faye Tucker exchange Bush recounted never took place, at least not on television. During her interview with King, however, Tucker did imply that Bush was succumbing to election-year pressure from pro-death penalty voters. Apparently Bush never forgot it. He has a long memory for slights."

.....

I had read about Bush mocking Karla Faye Tucker several times over the last few years, but this evening I was reading a speech given by Bill Moyers and he mentioned this comment as well as bush's comment after the Katrina disaster when bush responded indignantly to a reporter's question "Who says something went wrong?".

I honestly can't believe our country has a person like bush for our president...he is an absolute monster.

1. This is about the most disgusting thing I've ever heard about bush.
I say "about" only because there have been so many disgusting things he has done.

4. Tomorrow's another day
I agree, it is thoroughly disgusting but not surprising.
But hang on, tomorrow will surely bring yet another outrage from this incredibly disgusting individual - the idiot president.

If you can stomach it, watch the video.

2. Holy shit Tucker Carlson?
90% of the time he's a total Bush bot though!

Of course this was written in 1999 too, perhaps he was alarmed when he was "appointed" to the presidency

5. To my knowledge, Tucker has NEVER liked Bush.

And he was against the iraq War. Tucker is a conservative NOT a Bush bot. He can be an Ahole but he is NOT a Bush lover.

On Bill Maher last week or the week before last.

He's not O'reilly, or Limbaugh but he pulls the party line for the neo cons well enough.
As a decent human being, when you see evil being done you call a spade a spade. You don't run from it because it's of the same party affiliation as you.

And to back you up somewhat, I found this, but also goes against what you believed to be true.

CARLSON: Wait, I know people will never be convinced that Bush is not a right wing crazy, but just consider what he said in the last couple of days. We’re going to spend at least $100 million, probably I would say $200 billion to rebuild this.

He’s come out for affirmative action. He said in his speech the other night that he thinks that racism causes poverty. These are all liberal ideas. He is behaving like Lyndon Johnson. When at some point are liberals going to say, this guy is not a conservative, after all, he is talking like us?

MAHER: I don’t think he has ever been a conservative. I don’t know why you guys ever were so strong for him to begin with. He’s obviously...

CARLSON: You guys? I never was.

MAHER: You never liked George Bush?

CARLSON: Yes, I always liked him, still like him now personally, I think he is a totally charming guy, but I never, ever thought, day one, 1999, that he was conservative. I never felt that.

3. Yes. He is a monster. I only hope that someday
something good comes from this... perhaps laws that will protect our freedoms more closely and securely. Perhaps laws will be written to secure the balance of power more effectively.

Here's hoping that this won't be the end of the American 'experiment'.

7. I hope he and his kind meet the justice which they have earned!
That is all I ask, that the ICC award them their day in court.

11. I have no sympathy for Karla Faye Tucker.
Someone who claimed she had an orgasm every time she hit her victim with a pickaxe. Mocking her plea for clemency is unseemly for a government official but is not even close to as bad as what she did. Bush is a monster for killing all the innocents he has killed in this illegal war, not for mocking this murderer who got what she deserved.
