Is it just a coincidence that gas prices went back up after Election Day?
Here in Cincinnati Ohio they were really high, averaging around $2.80 throughout August and September, going up to $3.10.

Then, around the time Bush's numbers were taking a nosedive, and the Miers and Plame investigation were blowing up in his face, the gas prices took a sudden dip down to $2.07..

They stayed like that until today, day after election day.. Now they're back up to $2.30...

Could there possibly be a connection? I have no idea.

1. of course there is a connection
bush was hoping his oil buddies could take the pressure off the repukes leading up to the election by dropping prices. now that the election is over it's open season until sometime next summer during the 06 campaign

6. Just like Bandar Bush fined tuned oil prices before the...
2004 Looking Glass Election, just so they all could jam it up our ass, after the BFEE, House of Saud, & Elite Texas Oil Barons robbed 'We The People' of any government opposition to their corruption.

3. Prices are down over here
The southern Oregon area is seeing a decrease...we have gone from a high of 3.01 to 2.55 now. It might be that they will go up tomorrow.

4. It's because of Europe.

Or to be more evenhanded, gas prices were only as low post-katrina as they were because the nice folks in Europe started shipping us pre-refined products from their national reserves.

Those shipments have now stopped. Could the administration have negotiated them to stay in effect until roughly post-November8 (and the oil companies pad it out a bit to get Repugs elected)? Well, I guess it's possible but unless you can find evidence of correspondence to that effect...

5. Spot prices jumped 21 cents yesterday
Yet nobody knows why...whatever it was must've been a blip as they came back down 20 cents today (futures came down a couple of cents). No change at the pumps here...still running in the 2.09-2.17 range (PA)
