I detest Pombo for his hatred of Earth.

1. I'm hoping a Dem could win this seat
If McCLosky was the candidate, I don't think a Dem could defeat him. A tough Republican primary campaign would be good, though.

3. Pete McCloskey, the ex-rep who may run against him ran against Nixon
in the 1972 Republican primaries. He dropped out after 2 or 3 big losses, and retired, but he always marched to the beat of a different drummer.

6. According to today's standards, he's more liberal than many Democrats!

8. McClosky was a cool guy-back when "liberal Republican" wasn't an
oxymoron. Back in the 1970's there were quite a few Republicans deserving of respect if not support. Both parties have declined GREATLY over the last 30 years, the Republicans far more than the Democrats.

11. The Repubs have almost turned into neo-facists. That's not just
rhetoric either. McC. said in the article that the Republicans have gone too extreme, or the like.

5. McCloskey is going to kick Pombo's ass!! Now, the main Demo challenger
Edited on Thu Nov-10-05 12:58 AM by Crazy Guggenheim
in that race is Filson who is a more moderate - DLC type - Democrat. There is also a DFA candidate, McNerney, who is running against Filson, however I think he's been backstabbed by the CAAA when they endorsed Filson. Anyways, I predict that if McCloskey gets the nom, he's going to win. The DLC is going to have it's ass handed to it!

I don't mean to sound excited this however, McCloskey is probably more to the left than the current DLC.

9. McNerney made that seat viable
I'm sticking with him. He's a good guy and he knows the area. He's worked his butt off for this seat, he's earned the right to kick Pombo's ass.

handed to him if McCloskey is the nominee. McNearney has to be the candidate!

On Edit: I heard Jerry Mc. speak in Marin.

12. Here's quote from the article.
"McCloskey said Republicans in Congress had been corrupted by power, and he compared the existence of progressive Republicans like himself to the Ivory Billed Woodpecker.

“They’ve been extinct for 20 years, but there are rumored sightings,” he said."
