SANTORUM snubbing Bush in Veteran's Day appearance (!)
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 10:26 PM by Bluebear
Run, GOP! Run away from the monkey on your back!

====

WASHINGTON - President Bush will appear at a Veterans Day event in Pennsylvania on Friday with the state's moderate Republican senior senator and a Democratic congressman but without the state's conservative junior senator, who is fighting a tough bid for re-election.

A prior commitment is keeping Sen. Rick Santorum, the Senate's No. 3 Republican, from joining Bush, said Robert Traynham, Santorum's press secretary.

Santorum agreed several weeks ago to speak at the American Legion Veterans Day luncheon in Philadelphia and he intends to keep that commitment, Traynham said. He is to speak at noon, the same time Bush is to be 120 miles away at Tobyhanna Army Depot in Monroe County....

"If President Bush was popular, Rick Santorum would be standing right up next to him," said Jay Reiff, campaign manager for Santorum's likely Democratic opponent, Pennsylvania Treasurer Bob Casey Jr.
A Quinnipiac University poll last month showed Santorum 18 points behind Casey.

78. Perfect !
That monkey should be on the back of every Republican running for re-election. The Democratic Party should spring for the cartoon in every race in the House and Senate showing the Republican running with a monkey on his back. They're trying to run away.

It's no more a line of bullshit than anything else this guy says - on ANY topic.

OF COURSE he's running scared. As if one bush avoidance is gonna pull his ass out of a sling with the voters... After everything else, uh, SURE, this'll show the folks at home you're a reasonable, inclusive, tolerant, "compassionate conservative" sort.

51. He hitched his star to bush long ago........
and it's a little late in the game for him to say that he's his own man. He'll forever be considered one of bush's top go-to guys and once you have a "taint" like that there's no getting rid of it.
How many times has Ricky Retardo stood side by side with bush, basking in his warm glow and worshiping the very ground upon which he tread? It's too late to change horses now, Ricky. You're going to have to ride bush all the way back to Virginia where you came from. Pennsylvania doesn't want your sanctimonious, smarmy ass anymore. Now you'll have to pay for your kid's education yourself, the people of Pennsylvania aren't going to do it anymore. Gee, he'll have to sell his little pretend residence in Pennsylvania as well! See ya' Ricky! :hi:

do with it. (great post btw, made my night!)

Virginia has had enough of right wing, Jerry Falwell, nasty Republican bullshit. Especially my dear home, Fairfax County in No. VA.

The numbers in Fairfax, Arlington, and Alexandria, almost without regard to democraphics were:

KAINE, D. 65% KILGORE 34%

That's a big fuck you to the Republicans. They're toast.

We hage declared our independence.

Little Ricky, don't let little Georgie come near you...but it won't make any difference, you, Little Ricky, are finished.

Fairfax County did an ADMIRABLE job. I noticed that a lot of state legislators who were elected there were Democrats.

Next, on to 2006 and ousting Santorum from PA. We'll be so glad to be rid of him.

I don't know who is more poison at this point, Bush or Santorum...they're probably both avoiding each other like the plague.

Santorum can't ignore his voting record of voting with the President 100% of the time. You can be sure Bob Casey will be bring THAT up! :)

45. What a great blog! First rate!!! Highly recommended reading!
How have you been?

You'll be amused to know that Loudoun County, Little Ricky S's world headquarters, is quickly turning BLUE. The most obnoxious state legislator, Dick Black, was specifically targeted by DEMs there who find him to be an idiot. Black should not have lost but the Democrats said, enough of this crap and put up a great opponent.

Little Ricky is probably counting the days when he's forced to leave Loudoun and move to West Virginia...

One piece of good news for you, when he loses, he'll stay here.

We'll make him very welcome;)

Although I don't make a strong effort to promote my blog, I think it has had an effect. The petition drive sponsored by Democracy for Pittsburgh definitely had an impact. It was obvious that it hit a nerve by the vicious attack dogs that T-Ricky set loose on the group.

I started working on this issue on 11/19/04, so it'll be one year next Saturday.

I want to make it an easy choice for the voters of PA -

Vote for a Senator who lives in PA
or
Vote for the Virginian.

By the way, I have nothing against most Virginians, just the ones who pretend they live in PA.

He claims he has to live in VA to be close to his work (120 days a year the Senate is in session - 24 out of 52 weeks a year) but my feeling is that he wants to be close to the place of his birth -
WINCHESTER, VA!

And - THERE IS MORE TO COME! This issue is not dead.

Bush isn't seeking re-election, but he is seeking to regain popularity.

With Santorum down 18 points in polls--perhaps Bush also wants to avoid Santorum. (?)

67. The Dem Congressman is in HIS district, honoring HIS veterans
at an Army Depot which he has doubtless had to fight to keep from being closed (Tobyhanna Army Depot in Monroe County). He would look like some ignorant, hostile neocon if he snubbed all the local vets just to insult Bush. He is absolutely right to be there on veterans' day, so let's have no dissing of him. It's also a matter of old-fashioned, settled, political courtesy for both US Senators and the US Congressman to join a President of either party when he visits their state/district, regardless of who's in which party. It is extremely rude of Santorum not to show & I bet Bush is really pissed about it, considering all the fund-raising he did for Ricky.

48. this reminds me of an Irish ditty
Twas an evening in November
And I always will remember
I was walkin' down the street in droonken pride
But me knees were all aflutter
And I landed in the gutter
When a pig came up and lay down by my side

Yes I lay there in the gutter
Tinkin' toughts I dare not utter
When a colleen passing by did softly say:
Ye can tell a man who boozes by the company he chooses
At that, the pig got up and walked away.

Bush=droonk, Little Ricky=the pig

53. Santorum to speak at the Veterans Day luncheon in Philadelphia
Ricky's going to Pennsylvania? I hope he doesn't get lost, being from Virginia and all, he isn't familiar with the state.

56. It won't work Ricky!
You still have to appear with your biggest political liability.

Live by the sword - die by the sword.

I can just hear Ricky crying, "I'm melting....I'm melting...

61. Just the beginning of Bush's Toxic Coattails...
I've got a feeling many more Republicans up for reelection will want to avoid catching the Pachyderm Flu.
pResident Sh*theel is going to be a wonely wittle boy for the next year.

65. Just like the Fuhrer of Kallefoneeeya.
King Bu$hler turns everything to shit.

I always thought if they nominated nitwit Bu$h it signalled the end of the republican party as we know it.

75. It's a long drive from his home in Virginia
If he goes all the way to Pennsylvania then he won't have time to take care of the urgent pressing needs of his constituents. He cares so much for us you see, that he doesn't even live in our state. It saves him so much travel time because the Pennsylvania border is a backbreaking 1 1/2 hour drive from Leesburg, VA.

The Senator probably has some canine constituents in heat ...er...need of his "service". :puke:

Calling that shitstain a dog, would be an insult to dogs and canine-Americans.

79. We'll be seeing more of this
No GOP candidate will want Bush within a 50-mile radius of him or her next year.

I love it.
