GOP memo touts new terror attack as way to reverse party's decline
By DOUG THOMPSON
Publisher, Capitol Hill Blue
Nov 10, 2005, 06:19

A confidential memo circulating among senior Republican leaders suggests that a new attack by terrorists on U.S. soil could reverse the sagging fortunes of President George W. Bush as well as the GOP and "restore his image as a leader of the American people."

The closely-guarded memo lays out a list of scenarios to bring the Republican party back from the political brink, including a devastating attack by terrorists that could “validate” the President’s war on terror and allow Bush to “unite the country” in a “time of national shock and sorrow.”

The memo says such a reversal in the President's fortunes could keep the party from losing control of Congress in the 2006 midterm elections.

GOP insiders who have seen the memo admit it’s a risky strategy and point out that such scenarios are “blue sky thinking” that often occurs in political planning sessions.

This is in their "FUBAR" section....

6. No, I was referring more to his debunking
"So whenever CHB comes up with a 'source' that says Bush is drinking gin, raving at portraits of Lincoln and compiling enemies lists, bear all of this in mind."

5. a terrorist act on American soil would cause Bush to lose
any shred of credibility he has left, if his response to Katrina is any indication. The only way it would work for him would be if he declared martial law throughout the country (and what would be the precident for that?)and dissolved Congress and declared himself a dictator. If he tried that, I think a sizeable chunk of the military would refuse to cooperate, since they take an oath not to the President but to the Constitution.

8. A delightful little excerpt:
"Bush didn’t have any popularity left. Overnight tracking polls showed Kilgore dropped three percentage points after the President’s appearance and Democrat Tim Kaine won on Tuesday."

Yes, indeed.

10. Whether or not CPB is accurate or not
It is easy to see the b*sh Junta excited about the terror bombings. All their talking zombies were reporting Jordan bombings with the possibility of attacks in America.
No matter what happens, all the blood is on dubby's hands and I am hopeful that enough Cia and fbi types will be on the lookout for the next dubco Disaster.
C-spn has been talking about torture and the stupid right wingers think it is all good and still believe that Iraq took down the towers. It's terror all the time with bushco and the reich is ready for revenge especially on Arabs or Muslims.
