Springer really frustrates me
He is completely uninformed, and takes what callers say at face value

3. someone called in saying the CIA had 9/11 all wrong
and springer shouldn't have ex-cia people on like Larry Franklin, because they screwed up 9/11, and didn't even know it was going to happen

all springer could respond was that there was plenty of blame to go around, with very weak arguments

In reality, the CIA not only knew, but they warned the administration with the august 6th PDB

when 9/11 occurred Tennet knew immediately it was bin laden

before bush went into Iraq, the CIA told bush where al zwkari(sic), and they could hit him. Three times they gave him an opportunity, and three times he turned it down, but instead invaded Iraq

14. no worries
its all good. Just pointing it out.... although Larry Johnson has been on every major and minor progressive show, it is good to throw around his name to RWs when you are talking about implications of outting a CIA operative or analyst. I mean the man was CIA and most recently was part of State Department.... lots of credibilty.

10. I agree that he in uninformed
Sometimes it's just a small thing he gets wrong but a few weeks ago I heard a caller say that the Iraqi people wanted us to stay in Iraq and Jerry agreed with him. I tried calling and calling and finally sent an email with a link to a poll showing that the Iraqi people overwhelmingly wanted us out of Iraq. I said that this was important and should be corrected on air. I don't know for sure but I don't think they ever corrected it.

Also the show is way too puerile for my tastes. I've quit listening to Air America altogether. Now when Maine Public Radio goes to classical music for hours each day I listen to Democracy Now, C-SPAN, and other shows via the internet.

6. It is totally relevant
Springer traffics in human degradation. It's a black mark for AAR that he's on. Plus, he just plain stinks on the radio.

It's shameful what he does on television and what's worse is he knows it's shameful...

11. that horny old guy (Springer) keeps harping on the "cheerleader" story
Edited on Thu Nov-10-05 11:57 AM by npincus
Why doesn't he masterbate and move on to a more relevant topic?

15. Springer has strong points and week points
Obviously, debating RWs is his VERY weak point. He concedes to easily, you know why he's no longer a lawyer.

But he often does segments on political arguments that aren't the political arguments "du jour"... his shows often have a theme. You get a lot of callers debating sideline political topics that are often very interesting and informative when you consider that Al, Randi, Sam and Mike will probably cover the topic du jour in length.

He just can't handle the hard-core debates and should stop letting that Ed guy from Florida argue all the time.... Its a nuisance.

16. Sometimes I think he acts as though he doesn't know ...
about something because he wants callers to bring up different points. I hate when he says" to be fair or in all fairness" and I say to forget fair are they fair when they are playing with our lives.
