Libby's THE APPRENTICE: If You Buy It, I Will Review It
Edited on Thu Nov-10-05 05:05 PM by Plaid Adder
Last Thanksgiving I solaced myself after the 2004 election by reviewing Lynne Cheney's Sisters, which DUer Lisa was good enough to send me a copy of:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/plaidder/04/37.html

If anyone would like to see me do for Libby's fiction what I've done for Lynne's, and has a copy on hand, PM me. I will send it back to you when I'm done with it. It can be a DU Thanksgiving tradition.

C ya,

1. Are you kidding?
Aren't they selling for like thousands of dollars on Amazon?

There's a pretty good review in the New Yorker, even if you can't get your hands on your own copy: http://www.newyorker.com/talk/content/articles/051107ta_talk_collins

8. and going to Libby's legal defense fund.... Let's STEAL the book instead!
F*ck Libby and his demented frigid bear sex or whatever the hell he's into. Scan the thing and plaster it on the Internet. He doesn't deserve a dime.

10. Since it's (currently) out of print,
he will not make any money off any of this. All the people buying the book now have to buy it from someone who's already bought it; authors only get royalties if the publishers are getting paid too. So it isn't going into his legal defense fund, unless the whole print run was bought up by his friends, which I suppose is possible.

3. Apparently St. Martin's is going to reprint it.
That should bring the price down considerably. Not in time for Thanskgiving, probably, but I'm sure they will move the product as fast as they can, cause the interest is not liable to last.

9. Perhaps Scooter did a "book on tape" thing like OhReally?
Some of the best parts of "Minority Report" are when Sam & Janeane play those tapes of OhReally reading from his masterpiece.

"Put that pipe down, come over here, and get my pipe up!"

I'd sure like to hear Libby reading to us from his tale of little girls put in cages molested repeatedly by bears. That's just the kind of thing that should be enunciated from the lips of the mind that authors it.
