Management Guru Peter Drucker, 95, Dies
Management Guru Peter Drucker, 95, Dies By ALEX VEIGA, Associated Press Writer
6 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES - Peter F. Drucker, revered as the father of modern management for his numerous books and articles stressing innovation, entrepreneurship and strategies for dealing with a changing world, died Friday, a spokesman for Claremont Graduate University said. He was 95.

Drucker died of natural causes at his home in Claremont, east of Los Angeles, said spokesman Bryan Schneider.

"He is purely and simply the most important developer of effective management and of effective public policy in the 20th century," former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Friday. "In the more than 30 years that I've studied him, talked with him and learned from him, he has been invaluable and irreplaceable."

Drucker was considered a management visionary for his recognition that dedicated employees are key to the success of any corporation, and marketing and innovation should come before worries about finances.

I didn't realize he was 95... but if you ever took a class in business you undoubtedly read at least one of his books.

1. Ah, yes, I remember our Drucker phase.
Dude touched a lot of lives ... may he transition with grace and ease.

May he rest in peace.

2. Took the classes and had the opportunity to meet him!

Drucker was very much in his latter years but insightful about knowledge workers and the coming generational and cultural workplace issues. Drucker was also very much an advocate for non governmental organizations and volunteering. He had little patience for unbridled greed in the workplace.

Rest in Peace!

3. "The talk you hear...about adapting to change is not only stupid,
it's...dangerous. The only way you can manage change is to create it. By the time you catch up to change, the competition is ahead of you."
Peter Drucker
