It's getting hairy. Just had a Dem speaker go over his time and he tried to coordinate his points to coincide with the banging of the gavel.

10. Here's why so late
The GOP wants to pass a "reform budget" to get rid of waste, fraud, and abuse in federal entitlement programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, foster care, college loans, etc. They want to do this in the dead of night for 2 reasons:

1. They want as much cover of darkness as possible to screw the poor...it would be unpopular if it got to their constituents. btw, Charlie Rangel said he'd hook them up and make sure they got the publicity they deserve for their votes.
and,

2. Part 2 of this legislation comes tomorow. The real reason that they're trying to cut benefits from the poorest of the poor is not to pay for the hurricanes, as the Republicans claim. They're trying to cut these benefits in order to pay for the capital gains tax that they plan to introduce and ram through tomorrow.

Typical.

15. Darn. How sadly typical. I thought they were possibly voting on some
really important issue, rather than just serving their own, as usual. I am so sick of this administration. I have wanted it ended before it began unconstitutionally by SCOTUS in 2000.

21. NO. She voted yes on increasing the oil companies taxes,
and eliminating the tax esemptions for the oil companies that were part of the energy bill signed by Shrub in August. Kerry and Lautenberg voted NO! I'm glad the bill passed, but I don't understand the Kerry and Lautenberg vote!

22. Jeez, I was nervous there for a minute.
On CSPAN the scroll "Capital News" said that the senate passed a $40 billion (some-odd)senate version of a tax cuts for the rich passed. What is up with that? It said that the vote passed by 64-33. Do you know anything about that?

23. I don't know what all was in the bill.
I watched the vote and the flash on the screen on cspan said this bill would change the accounting rules for the oil inventories and cost them $5 billion in taxes, and the next flash said it would remove the tax breaks for the oil companies that were in the energy bill Shrub signed in August. I know this was the final vote on the tax bill, and I'm sure there was much more in the bill than just oil companies. I tried to look it up on the Senate site, but I guess they don't post the bill until there's something final because it said Bill S.2020 not found.
