3. Meltdown in the House of Representatives.
Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 06:36 PM by longship
Our "good friend" Chef Duncan Hunter is attempting to do an end-around on John Murtha's resolution. It's a smarmy attempt to paint Dems as wanting to pull out without any regard to the soldiers.

Jean Schmidt (R-OH) as much as called Murtha a "coward" and had her words "taken down" (disciplinary action by the chair).

It was quite a zoo.

Vote on Hunter's bill is upcoming. It ought to be a zoo as well.

4. Meltdown on the House Floor today
http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/11/18/congress.iraq.ap/index.html

and Jeanne Schmidt, Rep. from Ohio.. basically called democrats (and Murtha) COWARDS. Apparently she apologized a few minutes later and asked the words to be stricken from the record, but only after the place erupted with boos and yelling.

The pukes have sure had a bad few weeks, haven't they?

6. All-out fight on the House floor
Some republibot lady from Ohio (Jean Schmidt) said, "Marines don't cut and run. Only cowards cut and run". By the time they were done with her, her statement had been stricken from the record and she gave a disingenuous half-apology.

Can we get Sharpton and all of his crew day passes for the House?

7. US Rep. Schmidt quote (from the floor of the House)
Jean Schmidt: "A few minutes ago, I received a call from Colonel Danny Bubp, Ohio Representative from the 88th district in the (Ohio) House of Representatives...he asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message: That cowards cut and run; Marines never do."

8. There is a vote tonight on immediate troop withdrawal
Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 06:45 PM by meganmonkey
unfortunately it is a ploy from the Repukes. They are playing games with war. It is fucked up.

The House will be voting on it tonight. Right now is a short break, then 1 hour debate, then a vote.

If you have c-span, I'd recommend turning it on tonight. At the moment they are replaying Murtha's statement from yesterday which sparked the whole thing. But they;ll show the debate when it starts.
