Jean Schmidt: Delay's Hag in the House

<snip>

From THE HILL (http://www.hillnews.com/thehill/export/TheHill/Features/CapitalLiving/111505.html)

"When conversation turns to the legal turmoil facing former Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas), Schmidt is not so much neat as forceful. She has a golden hammer on her lapel, a symbol of her fealty to the besieged leader, and denounces his prosecutor as unscrupulous and the press as unfair: 'He’s been convicted of nothing. And, you know, if he is innocent, and I believe he is, shame on the media for doing this to him.'

The cruelest blow, in Schmidt’s opinion, was DeLay’s loss of the trappings of leadership after so many years spent grappling for power.

'You’re a four-star general, and suddenly someone creates an accusation and you’re reduced to a buck private,” Schmidt says by way of analogy. “You’re still in the Army, but literally he is at the same level I am and I’ve only been here 54 days.'"

</snip>

Interesting analogy coming from a congresswoman who just publicly attacked a decorated war hero on the House floor.

By the way, someone ought to clear up for her the difference between a Four Star General and a pest exterminator.

Schmidt also says that as a young girl she decided to become a Republican when she concluded that the word "Democrat" sounded like a "curse word."

The rest of the article in The Hill on Jean Schmidt is a good read, if you like horror stories.

1. If she's waiting for us to have any sympathy for DeLay...
Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 09:48 PM by Triana
...she'd better pack a big lunch and bring her sleeping bag 'cause it's gonna be a while. She sounds a bit - braindead. Did her mother drop her on her head when she was a child I wonder?

Doing what to him? The media is reporting the story. There is no question Delay is an unethical scumbag, only whether his actions --which he does not deny -- are illegal.

8. The ugly MoFo wasn't even elected
We remember Hackett 50% and Schmidt 50%, then the "humidity" shut the machines down for 40 minutes...then when the machines were "dehumidified" courtesy of DIEBOLD, Schmidt suddenly "gained" 2,000 votes out of nowhere and "won".

16. It's Ohio- need you ask?
Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 11:08 PM by depakid
Communities around the state have been devistated right wing policies, they're hemorrhaging jobs, their government's mired in unprecedented corruption- and still they vote Republican and reject election reform.

Under the circumstances, it's hard to feel sorry (or even embarrassed) for a majority of Ohians- especially the ones in that district.

I'm more inclined to wish for a little payback, should the Dems ever regain Congress or the executive.
